K-Pop Demon Hunters toys
Where are they? This film is Frozen level success... you'd think Netflix/Sony would capitalize on that alone.

It can sometimes take up to 6 to 9 months to plan out and produce a toy. It didn't sound like Sony had any perception on how popular the movie would be so I doubt they planned much out. Remember when Disney underestimated Baby Yoda, and then rushed out a flood of Baby Yoda stuff several months later? Similar situation. We'll probably see toys for KPop Demon Hunters in May or June 2026.

It's like a supernatural k drama for girls. It was silly and entertaining for me. But that's the bare minimum.

funny you should mention Frozen

Frozen released in November 2013
due to the general decline in movie tie-in merch in that era, there was virtually NO Elsa merch available when it first hit the theatres.

merchandise people scrambled to produce stuff but even then, it was like, a full year for the products to hit shelves. even Lego did not have a Frozen set of any kind, it was like January 2015, over a full year later, that we got a Lego set.

for a Disney Princess movie. Frozen.

following that, all expected-blockbuster-potential movies now get lots of merch "just in case" they blow up.

>>11593111
"Baby Yoda" was a different case.
they held back all knowledge of that, even to merchandise people, even the closest Hasbro figure people, to maintain the "WOW!" moment of the surprise reveal in the show. (it worked) ANY merch of any kind would have spoiled that, and they knew it. there was plenty of The Mandalorian merch, just none of Baby Yoda, after the episode aired, they tried to scramble to get the merch out, but again, it was a whole year.

hope you enjoyed my blog post

>Is the movie actually good?
there's a lot of world-building exposition talk at the beginning that's booooring and overall the plot could have been done a lot better

but after you remember that this is a movie for kids, and it can be a little messy, it's alright. don't take it so seriously. it's supposed to be a little silly.

the music is legit good, and the movie has a great build-up and ending, you should leave the movie feeling like you didn't hate it, and now you can participate in the culture around it, at least.

and then you'll be in a Walmart, and what's that tune they're playing on the speakers? OMG it's one of the KDH songs! and you'll think... awesome. lol

I went into it a little jaded like 'sure, I'll give this a shot' after my friends told me it was good. Oh yeah, they were right.
It's pretty good. I don't think it is a must-see movie of the century or anything, but if you like animated musicals, like any of the Disney movies, then you'll likely enjoy it. The music is really good and it actually ties into the story very well with them being musicians and fighting with their music, etc. It isn't like Frozen. And the blue cat/tiger is great.

Sony had so little faith in the movie that they didn't even bother making proper toys. I honestly feel bad for all the little girls that want a KDH doll for Christmas and will have to settle for Funko Pops or nothing.

A special first-look from Mattel Creations will be on offer starting Nov. 12 and include a three-pack of HUNTR/X dolls.

>Hasbro will create products in categories such as plush, youth electronics and role play, as well as leveraging its existing IP for cross-collaborations. Hasbro Pulse is just Hasbro's PR / fan channel. Most of the products that are sold on the Hasbro Pulse site are also sold at retail.

If I had to hazard a guess, Hasbro is going to make 1:12 scale Marvel Legends style figures for the adult collectors market, and Mattel is going to make fashion dolls. For all I know it could be the reverse, though.

Oh, never mind what I said here >>11602277 then. It does make sense that Mattel got the fashion doll license since they kind of rule that market and Hasbro's attempts have always been fleeting (Gem and Equestria Girls are the only examples I can think of).

Just got to sick the gooners on it like Frozen. K-Pop in general is picking up mainstream steam so it has potential. This movie might actually be the bridge that introduces normies to K-Pop like how squid games introduced normies to k-dramas and Solo Leveling to k-mangas.

It’s better than anything Disney has put out in the past few years.

It has an interesting concept— in every generation, a trio of demon hunters uses their singing voices to create a barrier to separate the demon realm from the human world.

The movie itself is essentially an animated musical with Kpop-style songs. The story is good, the animation is great (from the same people who did the Spider-verse films), and the music is catchy if you’re into kpop or just pop music in general. One of the songs “Golden”, has been #1 on the Billboard charts for several weeks straight.

Is it the best movie ever made? No, but it’s a fun watch if you’re into art and/or animation, Korean mythology and catchy music.

Also, this shows that people, especially kids, love musicals. Disney needs to get back into that. Little girls love to pretend to be the main female character and sing big musical numbers.

This goes to show you that boomers should not be in charge of movie making decisions.

Some out-of-touch boomer executive who didn’t know much about k-pop and probably didn’t think it was going to be as big as it is, is probably fuming right now.

Meanwhile, Disney just keeps cranking out either remakes and sequels and overcharging their products and theme park passes, and they wonder why they’re having financial struggles. But hey, let’s crank out Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3
