>Last set was January 1st this year
>Season 5 is given to a studio that doesn't care about it at all, noticeable drop in quality
>Being taken off of every platform, impossible to watch without piracy
>No scheduled 2026 sets

Is Lego Monkie Kid doomed? Why does LEGO hate their own IP's? Why is Ninjago getting another season?

Hey, a Monkie Kid thread, how rare these days. Anyways is the show even open to more seasons or was it cancelled?

I was late to the MK train, didn't get into it until they were doing the Bionicle promo so I bought a few of the sets then.
Fucking hell did I miss out. I've since bought a number of the sets throughout the line, mostly the 2nd and 3rd years, and I'm waiting for this past year's to go on sale so I can get the 9-headed demon and the pagoda before they disappear.
It's a damn shame it was left to die in obscurity. The cartoon was phenomenally done, the sets are a league above most of Lego's other themes. It just wish it was given a better chance.

Anyways what sets should I really aim to pick up? For the record my current collection includes:
>Cloud Roadster
>Lion Guardian
>Noodle Tank
>Chang'e Moon Cake Factory
>City of Lanterns
>Combi Mech
>Dragon Jet
>Yellow Tusk Elephant
>Monkey King Ultra Mech
>Dragon of the East Palace

There hasn’t been a official statement, but I really don’t have high hopes for the franchise, no sets scheduled at all is pretty bad.

You have a lot of good sets, wish i had more.
I like The Bone Demon, Mei’s Dragon Mech, and The Heavenly Realms, too.

Does anyone have the comics? I haven’t been able to find any of them.

I got DAMN lucky on some ebay auctions over the past year or so, otherwise I wouldn't have bitten on half of those.
All three of the ones you mentioned I'd love to get but fuck me they get expensive. If I can find a clutch deal on them sometime, absolutely. Mei's Dragon Mech especially is odd, it got retired so early and seems nonexistent in the US.

There are comics?

Yeah, but it seems like they're more or less lost media. I saw a few screenshots and a single picture of a physical copy a while back, all in Chinese.

There's a larger scale issue far beyond Monkie Kid's production where there's just not many in the western sphere who can animate action on the level of Flying Bark, and the ones who can get booked to fill their schedule for like years in advance. Even anime for as big as it is has this common issue of the good ones getting busily booked long in advance. Technically the company if they tried hard enough could find a new decently skilled studio somewhere in the world within a year to start up season 6 as long as the writers can come back, but maybe now it appears to be too much effort and expense to get it going again

Monkie kid doesn't sell, Ninjago does. It's that simple.

Turns out chinks aren't a real market. Who knew?
