Zip lock bags for each kit, stored in Koto large boxes, sorted by series. Self-adhesive mailing labels are cheap and work well for labelling the bags. I haven't actually tried this but they make plastic organizer trays for fishing tackle, if you've got a Bass Pro Shop or similar handy. Craft stores (and Amazon) carry similar things for storing beads (which is what I use for storing the extra parts for my nendoroids).

any insight on using spruegoo vs simple cement for removing seams?
Anonymous No.11596661 >>11597023
>>11596604
They both get the job done. Granted, just using cement is usually easier since you don't have to make a batch of sprue goo, nor does it have the potential randomness of said goo. The problem with sprue goo is that its quality as a seam line removal tool depends purely upon how good of a mix you personally made for such a thing. It's REALLY easy to make a bad mix and just end up with goo that, once cured and sanded, will just be filled with air holes and mandate that you do the entire process for that given area all over again. Cement you can screw things up with as well, though not as easily. Really though, at the end of the day it's simply up to whichever method you prefer. Cement is usually the way to go, however, with sprue goo more so as a backup option or for other gap-related issues.

This is just evil Tiasha, right?
Anonymous No.11596760 >>11597023
>>11596604
The other anon explained things pretty well, but to add a little bit based on my experience:
It also depends on the size of the seams. If it's a small area (i.e. thighs, legs, arms, hips) it's very easy to just use cement. Personally, I leave the goo for large areas or really big gaps (i.e. some chinapla kits). I'm also not that afraid of fucking up since I can always add a tiny amount of putty and then paint over.
That said, there's a very easy middle ground you can use for smaller areas. Simply shave a very thin ribbon of plastic off the sprue, use the cement as you normally would, but add that ribbon where you think the gap is just a little too big. You can then continue dabbing a bit of cement to melt it.

Anon, they're essentially the progenitor of mecha musume products. While mecha musume art and what not existed long before Shinkis, we wouldn't have MDs, FAGs, 30MS, or literally any of the other lines without them. This place started for discussing them, and as Shinkis are directly responsible for both this thread and the entire category of girlpa even existing, they will forever be enshrined within the name even when the day comes that fuckall nobody coming to this place has any of them. Time for a history lesson, then.

Personally, I read a lot of toy-based webcomics when I was a teen, many of of which were posted on TFW. I can recall three webcomics in particular that featured Arnval, Strarf, and Mao. This was my first exposure to the line and I eventually bought a few myself. I never loved Busou Shinki, they tended to loosen up really fast and the 2-girl combo armor designs, while cool, were too much of a price investment. However, I’m very happy to have finally got a Strarf from the Megami Device line, as I missed the boat on her back in the day.

The thread started off as the Busou Shinki General. Like other anons have explained, they were the progenitors of the entire mecha musume toy genre, and Megami Device literally started off as Busou Shinki 2.0. Shinki were posted here even after the franchise was officially killed off, but eventually were phased out as MDs and FAGs started showing up on the scene - the toys are now decades old and haven't withstood the passage of time too well. I still own all of my old Shinki, but I keep them in storage to avoid further deterioration.

>Glanced through the thread, not a single action figure in sight.
There's one now. Enjoy.
>>11599157
She's technically a Shinki, made as a collab between BS/MD. As is such, she's the last original Shinki of the franchise, and debuted alongside the Arnval and Strarf collabs. Mao, incidentally, was originally conceived to be in the same wave as a 'Not!Maochao", but got lost in development hell when the Busou Shinki license was revoked, only recently getting revived and slightly tweaked to avoid issues with Konami.

I'm hoping they'll do more with the block 2-S body soon, every available version of it is cute cute cute. I don't think they'd do this, but I would also take a block 2 kit that's just stand alone like the SST dress up bodies.

They surely will. Mao was a massive success and Kuro Mao seems super popular as well. There is usually a significant mold upgrade or msg conversion for a set of girls like the Raptors and Foxes, or EX Bullet Knights and Grandma/QoH. Swapping the animal pairs or making a new extra small type body and L type pair would be cool.

The vfg KΓΆnig is fairly decent, just remember to sand your joints. And if you're getting the one with the catgirl do note the manual is wrong about how the legs transform. When you go to extend them, there's an armature it tells you to move, but that makes it block them from extending. The new release with the purple haired girl might have corrected that part of the manual...

Yes and yes.
Do note, however, that they have a JP site as well, and the global site has baked in higher prices compared to the JP one to mostly make up for the "free" shipping.
However, it can sometimes still turn out to be cheaper to order directly from suruga-ya global compared to the JP site + going through a proxy or forwarder. It depends on how high the gaijin tax is compared to the potential shipping costs you'd save.

At least when shipping to the UK, Suruga-ya get some great prices when they've got the free shipping and bulk order offers on. To use an example, the new red Hexa Gear dude goes for about 11k before shipping on HLJ, and he's in one of the big boxes Koto do, so he's an arm and a leg to ship there. On Suruga-ya with both promos on I got him for not much more than retail, with fairly speedy EMS shipping, and a good deal on a Frame Arms chap.
They seem to run the free shipping promo very regularly so it's worth keeping an eye on them if there's bits you're after.

Well, I was in particular looking at two kits, Brave Girl 2 and Arcanadea Ermeda. Compared to Mandarake, first cost the same, second is around 20€ more expensive but that's still less than what I would pay for EMS and overall tax will be lower as well since it's calculated based on total amount paid (stupid but whatever). But that's only assuming that free shipping.

Don't be fooled by the "only now!!!1", they basically almost always have that promo with a few days inbetween when they don't.
Sounds like it should probably work out favorably in your case, then.

Anonymous No.11603566 >>11603663

Some faceplates can be finagled to work across certain family lines, but many don't. As a rule of thumb, get faceplates meant for whichever head core you'll be working with. Otherwise you might find yourself needing to heavily modify things to work (lul, SOL faceplate on an AUV head core). Colors are the same. Koto is very consistent with their skin coloring. If it says A, then it's A, and so on and so forth. If you notice a difference when the items are IN HAND, then that's a factory defect.
Anonymous No.11603570 >>11603600

It's because of the comical length of time Kagutsuchi's been in development. They most likely decided to do the variants shortly after greenlighting the initial Kagutsuchi project, and after her design was done the other two were probably already near completion too. Fencer's initial prototype was probably under construction a while ago once the base kit was given the production greenlight. When your project is delayed to nearly divinely comical lengths like this, the workers have a looooot of time to work out numerous kinks while other parts of the development pipeline are being solved.

Suruga-ya's great. They usually ship things out super quick unless they had an ungodly busy order period.
>>11603663
Oh, yeah. If it's strictly measurements you're concerned about then they're roughly the same size. Some of them have much shorter top halves, but that's almost always covered by the hair anyways. The amount of real estate the actual faces take up are roughly the same.
>>11603608
They make some really nice stuff, but it's all RIDICULOUSLY expensive for what it is. Even more so than normal most of the time. They sell via Ruten last I checked, but you can talk to them on their Facebook page and arrange shipping to wherever. They're usually pretty nice. I haven't ordered anything from them in eons, but I doubt any of that has changed.

Yeah, that bit of the AUV history sucks. I think Kagutsuchi was planned earlier, but I might be misremembering that. I don't think any proper parts like this exist, especially ones that would look within scale on teeny tiny Punis. You could probably gank a number of limb parts from some Hexa Gear beasts, but even those might be too big. I'd say your best bet is a combo of scratch building the limbs and using extra joints from kits.
