Economies of scale. Get cheaper by mass-producing to where they out-produce the Chinese factories. But that's hard to do thanks to unions that always inflate the cost of production because dag-gummit that guy with a GED has a right to earn $20 an hour. Mafex poseability is a little overrated and for some people that’s a big dealbreaker. Many are happy with the Maximum figure. Personally, I’m waiting for the new Figuarts and I’ll just deal with the cost, but I totally understand why some wouldn’t ever drop $100 on a single figure just on principle. There’s just so many options at this point, that this really isn’t an issue.

Cardiac is getting a fig for the first time soon, and Vermin is actually pretty highly requested and still hasn’t received a figure. There’s also supporting characters like Robbie Robertson, Betty Brant, Uncle Ben, etc. although several supporting characters have received figures like MJ, Gwen Stacy and J Jonah Jameson. There’s also Peter’s alter egos who went on to become their own characters, the “Slingers” Ricochet, Hornet, Produgy and Dusk. Which have actually been fairly requested. I mean, this could go on. There’s just A LOT of Spider-Man characters from 60+ years of comics.
