As for Rose Tico, Moonhead made her frumpy and undesirable by dressing her in a potato sack instead of a cool outfit like Leia's Both outfit from ESB. Her sister didn't pegwarm because she was in a flight suit, but she was also fridged in the first 10 minutes of the movie. There's a part of me that feels the same way too with feeling uncomfortable with owning a plastic Black man when given how over-sensitive certain types are (especially racially-hostile pricks like Boyega), and how easily they misread even the most harmless of situations.

In the old fashioned Kenner days they would have packaged Rose with some giant oversized spark shooting electric lightning claw arm that fried stormtroopers. And then made a vehicle for her that never appeared in any movie like some walker thing with bog arms to grab enemies.
