Mystery box toys
Are these really so profitable that companies shit out so many of them?

I can't imagine who is buying these. They are extremely overpriced. Have zero play value or lose any play value after the unboxing. 50-90% of it is just packaging. The toys are often literal trash and shouldn't be even worth displaying or collecting. Even the gambling aspect is underwhelming bc the rare ones are still just trash.

They seem very expensive to make but I can't imagine anyone paying so much money to get random trash.

Well yeah blind-box toys are highly profitable. They're usually cheap little figurines worth $1 or less sold for $5+ each because of the mental desire to "treasure-hunt" to collect them all.

Well stuff like this is $10 with a figure worth $1.
I guess it's like Kinder eggs, treat yourself to some random overpriced trash.

I collect some of the Minibrands and miniverse stuff, mostly because some of their stuff scales nicely to fashion dolls and make for nice set pieces, plus mini brands fashion has a lot of nice quality bags, shoes and accessories

One blind box toy that I've bought a few of is these mrbeast lab hybrids. Ultimately they're simple toys but they have some fairly interesting designs and decent enough articulation that they're playable. They remind me of characters from Chaotic or Monsuno or what have you from the 2000s. Basically just these creatures or monsters that just exist for the sake of existing. Cyber gorilla? Why not. Cyber gorilla with robot legs? Sure. Translucent squid character? More than welcome.

I lucked out and got the squid, so any more will have to wait for clearance. I really hate the idea of dupes.

My cousin's daughter (8) loves these "mini" things, my mother told me that she'd likely display the tiny 1/8 fl. oz. (less than 4 mL) Tabasco bottle I bought her as a gift among the rest of the tiny food items she's collected.
