Image era(technically started as a mirage book but shifted to Image), from the Bodycount miniseries Kevin eastman wrote with Simon Bisley that was basically a Heavy Metal TMNT story. Image ran with it and had Casey keep the mask(and gave Raph his old mask after his face got wrecked), and while the stories aren't canon to Mirage, it became a somewhat popular visual

The joints and intended paint apps on my set were fine, there's a clearance issue where their arms folded down can press into the should socet and cause some plastic rubbing.

Any chances of NECA doing Red Sky stuff? I'm getting S7's 2K3 stuff tomorrow and I'll get into NECA's 2K12 once we get versions who's alternate heads don't suck so I may as well balance with the 1987 versions but I want ones who won't cause some sort of "lol the 1987 show was silly and the turtles were complete goofballs who wouldn't shut up are we right?" shit.

if they were a head or two taller than the regular S7 turtles, so I could do my own Turtles Forever, and if they were more playmatesy (veins etc) then I could be talked into it, but I don't like what they did with the sculpts, and they are the same height (thus thinner and visibly out of scale) with the normal turtles. I fear the same will be true of Shredder, the one I was considering.

Even Slash only gets a pass because he's never depicted as having some innate connection to the main turtles, most of the time he's either specifically created by an outside party to be their enemy, or his origin has nothing to do with them and their resemblance is basically coincidental. Some versions go out of their way to make Slash look nothing like them. Either way he's never depicted as being some long-list evil brother of theirs.

it makes sense for the sewer to have some other animals (after all, Splinter was there already), but not so much another random baby turtle that we have to shoehorn in as a dumb retcon.

still, I think as a specifically just-for-fun thing, you could make it work. Give it the Lower Decks treatment where it enhances what worked but riffs on what didn't. but.. not the designs. make the art like the toys.
give us a proper Dragon Lord and some minions that look like they had a budget. give us a Bonesteel who actually looks like he could be a rival for Casey Jones.
