curious to hear about your experience. i have distant relatives in Cape Town and would be curious to know how the security situation is like in SA for North American whites. Do you find you'll need some Afrikaaner to get by in the Western Cape?

Port St. Johns is a little idyllic spot on the coast close to durban I think, decades ago that I was in SA. Cape town had some cool spots, and the parks in the east of the country are amazing naturally. Stay away from Port Elisabeth and Joburg.

So... South Africa. I went for a year as part of a university exchange program thinking it was gonna be cool and exotic. Classes were offered in both Afrikaans and English, so sizeable white population in this area. Maybe like 70% white I'd say. Met some wonderful ((white)) families during the holidays so I think I got a good feel of old and young. Stellenbosch as a whole is pretty wealthy. Think stereotypical wealthy white SA stuff. Paragliding, wineries, bungee jumping, that kind of shit.

Nobody will ever say it, but Apartheid is ingrained in people there. Maybe slightly less racist with the college age group, but people stick to what they know. SA white girls were really interested in this doughy American, so I suspect they're trying to get out.. Unrelated but the women all around are not very attractive. I also suspect there is something wrong with the gene pool among white people here. Strange accents.

Like here in the US, people will claim a dangerous area is safe by saying you just have to be vigilant, but reality is, one mugging changes everything. Waling traffic thins out by about 5pm and you don't wanna be out when dark in CT. There is an increasing white resentment and many multi-generational Afrikaners are choosing to leave, because the reality is, they have the future of their kids to think about. Old folks don't speak fondly of apartheid, but they do speak on when everything actually worked. Infrastructure is failing, rolling blackouts are becoming frequent. Blacks and coloreds vote in garbage politicians who rob the people blind. There's just something in the air like the place is gonna implode.

Beautiful but limited geography. Once you've seen Cape of Good Hope and Table Mountain, you've basically seen all CT has to offer. Has some mountains but that's about all there is to see. Beaches are pretty mid, maybe even kinda bad.

I went in 2018, who the hell knows how it is now, I can't imagine it's better.

Lol no. If you're white they're already on your side. Flip side to this, you're now a target

SA as a whole is just a strange strange country. It's what happens when you ended minority rule only 30 years ago I guess.

It's fine if you go to the tourist resorts out in the country where they're too remote to be affected by the wider issues in the country. I wouldn't go there just to gawp at Cape Town or even (god forbid) Joburg unless you're excited to find out what happens when a dozen poor violent urban youths catch you lacking in a third world country

Do you know how the situation is in Pretoria? Because i will be going there for a few days later this year and so far everything i heard is that as a white guy i will get robbed or kidnapped, if not killed. And do you know good "anti-mugging" methods? I could learn a bit afrikans if that helps

Any major city in SA is questionable man. Pretoria has white communities much like Johannesburg or Cape Town. You're better off learning Xhosa or Zulu at this rate. It's so over for the Afrikaner.

Pretoria is safer than Joburg/Durban but that's not saying much. Don't romanticize SA. I know I did, and while I learned a lot and met some great people, it's an increasingly unstable country that breaks my heart, as it's just another example of failed civilization in Africa.

I might go to Jewberg from in a months time. I have a high possibility to get a first class seat on a 14 hour flight on an a380, well at least business class. I'll only stay for a weekend.

What's there to do there? Should i just not leave the hotel? I'm not poor so I'll be staying in a nice hotel in a nice area (i dont know what that means since I havn't done any research). I also like cooming so I'd like to know the situation there. Thank you.

Truly a nation in decline. I would visit before it is a total failure. Arguably already is, but if even more of the whites leave, it will be worse.

The bottom fell out after the virus and its basically collapsed. Western Cape is OK, Gauteng hangs on by a thread but KZN is gone. I am shocked by the rapid collapse of governmental control and even things like the Gautrain or Maboneng I would avoid.

To think it was just a little over five years ago that you could go to the townships as a tourist (in daylight) and be reasonably certain of a good experience. Now thereโ€™s scarcely a CBD outside of Western Cape that isnโ€™t horrifying.

Look for a safari company. They will shuttle you from the joburg airport to your accomodations, then from your accomodations to six hours up to kruger national park for safari.

I'm writing from stellenbosch. I would say this is mostly accurate except your statement on young people, they are equally racist because your options here are racism or muggings (some rare exceptions that grew up in very privileged isolated upper class cape town districts).

As for your experience in CPT, the place is basically Babylon. If you want a better experience in South Africa then the garden route is the place to go, for me it's Mossel Bay. If you go there in December you'll get beautiful beaches, beautiful girls and a good night life. CPT beaches are just niggers selling bad drawings.

We don't have blackouts anymore, so apologize anon niggers can run a country just fine.

Afrikaans won't save you my friend. Maybe Xhosa or Venda. The telkom tower is a danger meter, the larger it gets in your FOV the more danger you are in. Centurion is the best area in Gauteng, still be vigilant but best they've got there.

In the western cape beer is not nearly as big a thing as wine, the reverse is true once you go north of the free state. So my opinion on beer is useless, rather ask me about wine.

Are you a local or expat? How are tensions there at the moment with all the attention on white saffers from the US admin? I (British) was thinking of going this year, but if it's going to be a case of walking on eggshells around 90% of the locals I'll probably give it a miss.

>Can i do one of them safari tours in a weekend? It would be pretty cool but i'm only planning on staying 2 days.
That's a tight schedule but I'm certain you can. I chose a company called Viva Safaris. You tell them how many days you want and they will shuttle you to and from joburg and everywhere in between (different camp sites). I stayed in an open preserve (private property that is literally open to kruger national park so any wild life can wander in). Then the guides took us in an open air vehicle through kruger park (very well kept highways running through it. There was a massive gated rest stop in the middle of the park with restaurants). Staff and accommodations were excellent. It's not a five star hotel, but the beds were comfortable and clean. Had 5g everywhere but deep into kruger.
>I'm also guessing that the cooming situation in a safari tour is not possible.
Lol I suppose it depends on the people in your group. Group size for me was maybe 15.

Yea man, one of the best experiences of my life. Viva safaris. Keep the questions coming.

Thank you good lad. I will research if i can do a safari tour in the little time im there. I'm onlly going if i can get a first class seat, so we'll see.

Any places you can recommend within Joburg for that time? I honestly don't mind if i dont even leave the hotel because of the basketball people roaming around.

Like with most of the country, some areas are safe and others are not.
Pretoria CBD (especially Sunnyside) is a no go

This might sound racist but
The less trees = the more crime in the neighborhood

Very rough theory but try that on for size
>>2785101
funny telkom tower reference
Roughly true

I've been commuting to pretoria from centurion almost daily for the last 3 years and nothing has happened to me.... yet

Avoid driving at night (most street lights no longer work + "they" blend into the dark)
don't walk around the streets of the city

Malls are generally safe (like the Grove, Menlyn, Brooklyn, Lynnwood...)

stay alert and you should be fine
And don't drive a too expensive car. Drive
something common, but not too common because those are targeted more for parts.
overall I would say the people here are friendly

Voortrekker monument would be a cool visit.

btw, "Poes" means "hello"
it is an alternative form of greeting, and most people are very happy when visitors greet with it :)

Stop that bullshit right there. Just tell the truth. The blacker the area, the higher the crime. Same goes for the USA, the darker the skin tone majorities it is, the great chance of crime/murder/robbery/and attacks.

There, now that that's out of the way.....

I didn't end up going to Jewberg. Went to Tokyo instead because a close acquaintance decided to travel with me and didnt like the idea of spending 30 hours on a plane (there and back) to spend 2 days cooped up in a hotel. We went to Tokyo instead, stayed in Shinjuku. But never fret, I will go to Jewberg soon enough.
