I want to go there next summer and just relax but I can’t figure it all out.
I want a nice place with a view and a private balcony, but if you position yourself high up, how do you get down to the sea where most of the dining options are?
What’s the best source to procure accommodations? I am wary of AirBnB. I typically use Expedia to book stays.
They say the familiar spots have become insanely crowded.
Also, how do you get from the Naples airport to the places on the coast?
So much to figure out.

Here's my take on why I've never done Amalfi. It's overpriced, overcrowded, it's hard to get to and hard to get around, the rest of Italy is better, and if you want beaches just go to Croatia, Portugal or Spain for less than half the price.

Thank you for your reply.
I hope someone has something positive to say about Amalfi.

That anon is right and you're an idiot if you go to such a heavy tourist spot for relaxation. You won't relax you'll constantly be surrounded by idiots. Thw staff also thinks your an idiot and is charging you premium for your stupidity. You also need a car to get there, the train doesn't go all the way down. Or you ferry all the way to Capri just to ferry there with the other tards. Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento are tourist traps. Shit just go to Salerno you fuckwit, and if it's still busy move down the coast there are endless beaches.

(Italian citizen, former resident in a town south of Naples, seen all you retards flock to the priciest restaurants while eating my local priced pizza. Seen you pay for a bus to tourist sites with your luggage shit while it takes a few minutes to walk to lmao.)

can't help much

I've been like 10y ago
we rented a big historic manor with my whole family (19pax, half of those kids) for almost 2 weeks
was like slightly below 1,5k/night if I remember correctly

the cities were already overflown back then
but hiking was really really nice (and what we did most of the time)
LOTS of stairs though
the smaller towns don't get as much attention though and have some nice "hidden" spots (read: not as viral)

we did the classic 2n stop at Pompeii on the way back

Given that most of the coastline are public beaches and marinas you probably won't find a private residence that has private water access.
Better bet is stay at a hotel adjacent to the ocean, say in Mondragone (north of Napoli) or further north in Gaeta.
If you want more proximity to Amalfi maybe try to find a place in Positano.

I was there a few weeks ago. It's beautiful adn relaxing but it's a pain to get around. If you drive its awful, or you could get overpriced taxis. Your best bet is to maybe go somewhere easier like sorrento and take the ferries around

That sounds like good advice - I will stay in Sorrento and just ferry to Amalfi, Positano, Capri.
Thanks.

i think all the italians go to northern sardinia for their glamourous beach holidays

cilento often suggested as a less populated alternative to amalfi

Salerno has few and awful beaches, why would you tell anyone to go there?

>heavy tourist spot for relaxation
Amalfi had to be the most overcrowded place I've ever been (Positano). Everyone from every country wandering around eating pizza. Packed. Its gorgeous and worth seeing, but not relaxing. Try a mellower spot like Ravello if you really have to go.

I’m seeing claims that May is not so bad in terms of crowds.

Enjoy your niggers kek. I was there in April and it was overcrowded and the local people are rude with criminal money grabbing mindset. I was hiking in mountains, enjoy your desert tier heat kek.
