Trying to move halfway across the country. Really don't have a good support network. Gameplan was to rent a van with stow and go seats but apparently everyone and their brother is moving and all the car rental places near me have nothing period. Uhaul wants to fuck me $3500 for their cheapest box truck.

Trying to get from Massachusetts to mid Florida, can anyone help a brother out?

Budget is $500-$750. Feels like I'm gonna get molested.

I also posted this thread on transportation but some bike seat sniffing smart ass told me to sell my shit. It's a fucking bed, a bureau, and a nice desk. there are other truck renting companies you know

not exactly sure about US prices (euro), but i don't think a moving truck alone should cost significantly more than 100, max 200$/€ per day + per km cost

I paid 3 helpers 15€/h for ~4h loading and 2 other helpers for ~2h unloading

there are even plenty of "free stuff" neighborhood Facebook / whatever groups and platforms
and even if isn't free, you can get lots of cheap used stuff

also be friendly to your neighbors
they might gift (or sell very cheaply to) you their old furniture in their garage, which they just haven't got around selling for the last few years (and are actually glad they get rid now easily)

Rent an SUV from something like Enterprise and load it up

A computer desk can be gotten at goodwill for 20 bucks

I'm currently moving from New England to Arizona, and I moved to New England from Louisiana.
The Uhaul Box is cheaper than renting a truck. I've looked extensively. If you really can replace shit just take the Amtrak.

Honestly you're better off selling the whole thing for 200 bucks and buying some new with your 950$ budget. A nice desk and cupboard will set you back 200 and you probably won't pay more than 500 for a good mattress.
