Going on a business trip to Geneva, might stay by myself for 2/3 days. What would you recommend I do in this area?

Depends on what activity you're interested. Geneva is like a glorified French town by the lake. Kino and picturesque, but too many pajeets and sandniggers that ruined my impression.
I'll tell you one extremely kino thing I did, but I believe it's not the season anymore. Went up Rochers de Naye on the other side of the lake, then hiked down during spring. Flowers were blooming everywhere but it was the fields of narcissus that made my trip worth it. You can check other spots at narcisses dot com.

Can second this.
Geneva is really just a big cosmopolitan melting pot. I see no reason to go there again. You can take a picture of the UN buildings to say you were there, but that's it.
Can second the mountains too. If Switzerland, then mountains. The same mountain was my highlight to the area, It's 1 hour to Montreux, you can come and go in a day.

The terraced vineyards around Lavaux are about an hour to the east and worth checking out if you’re at all interested in wine; could visit the Chateau de Chillon (one of Switzerland’s nicer castles) and/or the small, pleasant city of Lausanne, en route. Lausanne is by some standards a better city for tourists than Geneva. I actually like Geneva, unlike most Swiss people, but it’s nobody’s idea of an exciting place, and it’s overpriced.

Alternately, the very scenic little French town of Annecy is just over an hour south of Geneva (by rail; it’s well under an hour by car).

+1 for Annecy. Geneva sucks. It's boring. Every bar and restaurant in the city closes at 830. There's nothing to do.

See if you can get a guided tour of CERN. I've never done it but it looks interesting.

I was in Zurich and was blown away by how nice everything was. Then I went to Geneva and was blown away by how much of a loud shithole it was. No coincidence it was run by the french and was culturally enriched

>Lausanne is by some standards a better city for tourists than Geneva.
This is mostly because Lausanne is the young a bit grim and hip university city while Geneva is the old, a bit steril business and "luxury" city.

Don't be afraid to look elsewhere in Switzerland beyond the lake Geneva area. With how small the county is and efficient the train system is you can get to pretty much any other major city in under 4 hours. Much less for cities like Lucerne, Bern and Zurich. Train rides in Switzerland are spectacular in their own right(with the exception of the far north).

If you got the train 'tism the Aigle - Sépey - Les Diablerets line is well worth it and Les Diablerets is just comfy, rent a chalet, get some wine and cold cuts and just chill. Might want to go up to the Glacier 3000 that's also really nice.
