We are planning to travel mostly in the southern parts and we are swedish non-muslims. Advice would be appreciated.

for a start the southern part is mainly a huge fucking desert
if you are serious then my advice would be don't fucking bother. unless you are going there for a specific non-negotiable reason then just go somewhere else. pretty much anywhere else really.
yes there are a few interesting archaeological sites but you could see similar in jordan or egypt and not have to go to fucking saudi arabia to see them
t. worked in saudi arabia and have no desire to go back

why
rub al khali is a quarter million square miles of absolutely nothing and the most interesting cultural sites are closed to kafir; border area with yemen is dangerous these days too
