I went travelling thru europe solo for 2 weeks and what I'd do is sit at the "bar" but not all european countries have that mentality or something equivalent to bar seating. In belgium I had this weird feeling of not being welcome in a couple of restaurants doing it, but in amsterdam there seemed to be no problem and I would regularly chat with those around me.

There was about a 10-15 min wait in line before they let you sit down and in the line was some loner white LBH.
