I’m from Canada and I’m going to be studying in Paris for half a year next spring. I’m looking forward to doing a bit of travelling in Europe and the Mediterranean. I particularly want to visit somewhere in the Arab world (a place I’ve never been and my top 2 countries to visit would be either Morocco or Egypt (maybe Syria if things keep opening up). In terms of cost, safety, and attractions which should I visit?

do both

>In terms of cost,
both are cheap
but you can spend more in Morocco if you want to (e.g. Aman / Relais & Chateux) and generally better (true) luxury options
both are nice on a mid to low(ish) budget (e.g. ~50-200€/day)
but only Morocco works on an ultra low budget, staying in cheap Riads
wouldn't do Egypt in that case

>safety,
Morocco generally is a little safer
but both are fine if you are not retarded, not a travel newbie and stay away from spicy borders

>and attractions which should I visit?
both have some very unique spots that are absolutely worth a visit

if you need a third country on your list, Tunisia is also worth going to

again
do both, if you can
if not, Morocco is the more pleasant choice

>Morocco is the more pleasant choice
This is very true, most problems can be avoided in Morocco by just booking accommodation outside the old towns and only venturing in on your terms. In Egypt there's no escape from the "traditional local culture" (arab scams)

Egypt mogs Morocco if you're not a basic bitch newfag. There's tonnnnnes more to do. It's not even close.

Build me an itinerary which defeats this:
>Scuba diving in Dahab
>Cairo (Cheap taxis between Dahshur Pyramids, museums, rooftop bars, chaos of old Cairo, citadel, zamalek cafes)
>Flight to Abu Simbel and overnight stay (see the deserts from above, land in tiny airport, visit an empty temple after busfags leave, chill with locals in airbnb, and boat trip on lake nasser)
>Aswan (sunset falluca)
>Nile cruise back up to Luxor
>Luxor (cycling valley of kings)
>Bus to Hurghada for relaxing all exclusive end to trip

I’ll try to but I’m on a budget and I’m not sure I’ll have more than one week off in Europe. How much time would you recommend in each country?

>but I’m on a budget
then Morocco is most likely the better options

>not sure I’ll have more than one week off in Europe
if your studying program is anything like 99% of Erasmus student exchanges you have way more than one week off
if you take it...
it's typically very easy courses with no attendance and everyone just does 6months of partying, traveling and just enough studying to keep your ErasmusBux

>How much time would you recommend in each country?
if you want to see all highlight, it's something around 10 days for each country
but you can easily fill days for longer or shorter trips
i wouldn't do shorter than 4d/3n though
as flights are still ~4h, so you'll lose half a day on travel each way

and general travel tip for Europe
RyanAir and other still have somewhat cheap "last minute prices"
check every few days for cool flights for just a few nights in another EU city
probably took close to 100flights in the last ~6y - most booked within <2weeks of start and never paid more than 50€/one way

WANT TO 2nd this so fucking much, Egypt gets unfairly shat on because it stopped being a normie travel destination years ago, yet normies still think it is, so they keep coming but then get culture shocked that people are loud and haggle. Any experienced traveller who say went to SEA or China or India and then went to Egypt after would tell you that Egypt isn't as bad as people make it to be, and it's certainly not as bad as India. Heck, I feel like if normies were much more based, they would have shat on India more, but India gets a better rep because all the SPIRITUALITY crowd say so much good things about it that it's not as normalized to shit on as much as Egypt. A similar case can be made for Thailand, Bali, and the Philippines, but in regards to the horny middle-aged men crowd and the cheap alcohol and handjobs crowd. Egypt, at the very minimum, suffers the same "issues" as those countries; it's just more normalized to circle jerk those issues by normies.
