New to the city and I feel so bored in the weekends. I take a mini vacation every now and then to escape the city. Are there any things to do a couple of miles away or in the city?

on the weekend, people here go to a mall, restaurant (asian/latin), park, or get drunk wherever people can find drink. look for stuff you're actually interested in (get a hobby) and plan in advance by checking for local events like going to a concert or some ethnic showing. there's no sightseeing here unless it's on your way down from a jump off a skyscraper or over an overpass in your F-150. Go to any other Texan city for actual decent things to do on a weekend. People get AWAY from Houston on the weekend because they're trapped in sprawled hell 5/6 days a week.
