Staten Island is an incredibly dense suburb of retired cops. It is only part of New York City because the senate rejected their overwhelming vote to secede back in the early 90s. It is very, very different (and less populated) than every other borough, and, for all intents and purposes, is more like a Northern New Jersey county.

Garbage Island. I grew up half an hour away in NJ and never visited. The farther east you go in NJ, the shittier it gets. Northwest NJ is the best NJ.
Crime is surprisingly high there. Almost five hundred cars stolen in 2023 alone, for an island with a population under 500,000. Hundreds of burglaries, hundreds of robberies. Americans don't count burglaries and grand thefts as robberies for some reason, so that's why their robbery figures are lower than Europe's.
