Jodhpur has a much, much better fort. Fewer foreigners, so far fewer scammers.
Jaisalmer feels like an RPG castle town in the middle of the desert. I've been all around the world and arriving there is still one of my most mind-blowing memories with the way this massive castle on a hill just rises from the desert as you approach. The entire castle town is made from intricately carved sandstone blocks. This picture I took doesn't capture the absolutely scale and beauty of it all.
Both Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are small-ish cities, so they're perfect for a short trip. You can take a day out into the desert from Jaisalmer, ride a camel, and there are options to camp out under the stars (wish I did it, but didn't have enough time).
I also loved Mumbai. As a large city, it's infinitely better than Delhi. Far fewer people trying to scam you, lots of museums and temples and historical stuff to see, cleaner than Delhi, better food than Delhi.
I think you could easily do a Mumbai+(Jaisalmer or Jodhpur) trip and be very satisfied. That's assuming you only have exactly 7 days including flights. If you can get about 9 days or so, Mumbai+Jaisalmer+Jodhpur are very feasible.
My biggest piece of advice is to wear boots when you go. I got cornered by huge ass dogs a few times and needed to kick them in the mouth when they tried to bite me. Would've been fucked if I wore soft shoes (or like some retarded tourists, sandals)
