I am looking for two things:
A GPS app that is offline (no ads, I'll gladly pay for it)
A travel app that shows me places of interest along the route, and at my destination.

I do that already, but they are slow as shit. And if my phone even has a single bar of roaming it will prioritize trying to connect online rather then use download maps.
They are also slow as shit. I'm pretty sure Google gimps offline performance on purpose.

No it doesn't unless you're an itoddler holding on to some old ass device like my backup phone is(iphone8) I have a 4GB Moto 5G 2024, literally under 100 dollars. Damn near perfect use of maps even in rural midwest

This sounds like a (you) problem. I've never had issues using offline maps in google maps. Everytime I go out west I do it since rural areas are so fucked for cell service out there.

It has always worked like shit on every phone I've had. If there is an inkling of Internet, it will prioritize it over local storage. I have to put it in airplane mode to make it run fully local.
And even then, it takes a long time to calculate a route.

Im still looking for an alternative, non Internet base gps app.
