should I include Busan in my two weeks plan?
I first thought about staying only in Seoul but busan look also really nice.
Would I be able to appreciate both seoul and busan during a two weeks stay?

Depends on the year

Busan is nice but if you only have 2 weeks just investigate all the areas of Seoul. I spent a week there and was kinda over it by day 3, if you're coming from Seoul a lot will be the same unless you're willing to bus mode it to some beaches or take a ferry to some islands.

I figured I'd go in may or june next year.
I assume that's by that time the weather's nice to enjoy Busan.

Oh look, a Korea thread. There's a decent chance I will be visiting within the next few years. I am ethnically Korean myself, how do I cope?
>speaking/understanding very little of the language (I sound like an elementary school kid in special needs class)
>being a draft-dodger
Should I just pretend to be Chinese?

no, go to jeju instead. there is very little to see in Busan that is not also in Seoul, and what you miss in Busan (seafood) jeju has as well.
>>2795374
the weather is insufferably hot during the summer

be aware if you go, you might be forcibly drafted. if your parents or grandparents registered you in the korean family registry, and you did not formally renounce your korean citizenship before age 18, you may be drafted. see this thread for more information.
see this leddit thread /r/korea/comments/xv4qcr/im_a_korean_american_who_wanted_to_visit_south/
And don't pretend to be chinese it's gay

Ok, naive question.

Is it doable in one week/7 nights? I'm checking and I'm not really interested in Busan or Jeju (I mean everything looks cool, but not something that I wouldn't see in other parts of the world or South Korea itself).

I'm thinking Seoul, the DMZ, a village like Gyeongju and some nature.

Thank you very much!

You'd better check, but you'll be fine as long as both of your parents renounced their citizenship before you were born.

honest question, why are korean elders so insane hikers??

on hallasan I got overtakes by like 75y olds the whole way up and down
same with literally every other trail in Jeju or Seoraksan
and I'm an avid hiker / mountaineer

the weird thing is
it's only in korea
as soon as you leave SK, all korean hikers you meet are typical pretty normal

i would skip Gyeongju, it's far and there is too much to do in seoul anyway
take a day trip to Suwon and see the fortress & market there
For nature visit Bukhansan if you enjoy hiking, or rent a bike and ride along the Han river from around Guri Hangang Park all the way to Yangpyeong. Seoul has very extensive bike trails, every river has bike paths along it.
Another beautiful bike trail is the path from Gajwa station up the river. stop at Hongjecheon Artificial Falls, see Cafe Pokpo which is all over IG, climb Ansan park & see the Yeonhui Forest Rest Area, then keep going all the way up to Okcheonam Buddhist temple.
persoanlly i enjoy hiking more than biking, i would just go to Bukhansan or hike Gwanaksan if you're in southern seoul.

seoul is hot and humid as fuck in summer. Jeju is cooler with the sea breeze

hiking is the national pasttime for old people

you won't have the full korean experience unless you go with someone familiar with korea who speaks korean. all the actual fun/enjoyable experiences in korea are only advertised to koreans on naver and not tourists, they only advertise the lame shit to tourists, so if you look online all you'll see is the lame tourist shit.
the best part of korea is going to one of the infinite cafes, pop up experiences, enjoying the food, the convenience of delivery and high quality inexpensive services; but as a non-korean you will never experience any of this and will not have a great time.
These keep changing all the time and i do not live in korea any more so the places i know are outdated.
A genuine answer for you: find a KOREAN GIRL and take her on a DATE to lotte world. And rent high school uniforms and dress up. it's a very popular kind of date. It's only $30 per person when you use the promo codes online (have the korean girl book this for you). Then eat at lotte world mall after.
If you like league of legends then check out LoL Park in Jongno

I wish I was able to stay in Korea more than 6 months out of the year. I think I would be great frens with them. I love hiking. Do it everyday for three months straight when I'm there. I also read when I was over there last time, that a lot of retired Koreans go to the library all day like it's their job. I need to go see if they'll chat with me next time. I'm sure they got some good stories.

Busan has better beaches than Jeju, also more nightlife. I enjoyed it
