Trump wants to build 15-minute cities on public land. That's what this commotion is all about.

IF this was true, it would be an improvement for American quality of life.
Unfortunately its not, and trump wants to sell this land to his billionaire allies so that they can create mining or factory towns dependent on their corporations, not unlike China.
A 15-minute city would require a strong local government to enforce a carless / car free downtown square through zoning, fines, and building codes, which is the opposite of what the 2 controlling American parties are doing.

That's what a 15-minute city looks like in reality.

If you want to see a 15 minute city go to mainland Europe (this is /trv/ after all). A quiet cozy town with everything you need within walking distance.

Within the purview of the US legal system, yes this is what a 15 minute city will look like there.

To add to my own post, the longest I have ever lived somewhere was 8 years in Newcastle, UK.
Yes its up north and supposedly "sucks" but it was really comfortable and easy to get into downtown within 20 minutes on a metro or bus, do my shopping as needed, go to work, etc. It really was a nice place to live for those 8 years.

After that I lived in Singapore, which is a bit different, as a city state there is nothing outside the big city, but again it was fast, convenient, and I had a very high quality of life. I was able to go to the ER on public transit within 15 minutes when I broke my wrist, and the entire thing from ER to casting to occupational therapy was about $1300 (USD).

I have now lived in Arizona for 4 years (wont say where) and this is genuinely a shithole. You can't get anywhere in the Phoenix metro area without 40 minutes of driving, in the smaller city of Tucson you can't get anywhere without 35 minutes of driving. I wholeheartedly believe that if the US cared about their citizens they would adopt an EU or SEA model.

Being a british citizen, I will eventually move back there. America is truly the worst place I have ever lived, and this includes a 3 year stint in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Yes, its a city, and yet your locale feels quiet and cozy. Imagine that. Same in Singapore (pop 8 million+)

Lifelong AZ resident here. Half Coconino county in the mountains and half Pinal county in the desert. You sound like a massive faggot. Phoenix is obviously car dependent but living here is nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. Please go back to whatever soulless, grey Slough you crawled out of. You're not welcome here.

The Brits who were wired to push the frontier of civilization and live semi-autonomously but still cooperatively moved to the American colonies. The ones like you who crave urban bugman collectivism and convenience over personal freedom stayed in the UK. We do care about our citizens, just not in a way that someone like you is able to appreciate.
