I havent been out of my country canada for 3 years. just been unenthused after my last trip to my parents home country croatia. theyre from dalmatia which is flocked with tourists and it felt so blah. i researched italy, spain, and got to know the intense anti tourism movements they got goin on there. and also that shit is shoulder to shoulder packed with all tourists if u go to rome/florence/barcelona etc. and that just does not interest me

i have developed a new theory of travel: find the worst, most unnotable place in a place, and go there for 2-3 weeks. my favorite place in croatia was benkovac. 0 tourists, nothing to see. just vibes. if i went to italy? id go to prob molise. england? some shithole area. i bet its no tourists there and u can just live and enjoy. sure. u dont get to see thigns in person, like rome, but desu, if u are "Seeing" it in lineups surrounded by foreigners like u just a buncha assholes taking snapshots, are u even seeing anything? and there is no worry of me ruining the ugly shitty cities by inundating them with tourists cause tourists cant get selfies in these places so theyre under no risk.

Given how cheap transport is compared to lodging, it makes no sense to spend 2-3 weeks in one small town. Go wander across the map and visit a dozen different small towns. Stay a night or two in each. Some mundane places have surprisingly kind and welcoming people; others have peaceful natural areas with flowing brooks and singing birds; others have unexpectedly good food or amazingly comfortable lodgings.

This is basically what well traveled people do. But also, we gatekeep our favorite spots, so no more sharing please.

Based.
The world's most popular tourist destinations should all start charging $100/day tourist tax to keep the poorfags out and create exclusivity.
