Thinking of doing a student internship in SF California (im from europe). Anyone got any tips/experience with documents/general knowledge about if the process is as ass as it seems? Im guessing the visa is a bigger pain than actually finding a company that accepts international interns

do you have the funds?

I did an exchange year at Stanford
and worked for 2,5y at a company there after
and my 1bd apartment in Palo Alto was like 3k/month alone
got a cheap used car
but even standard supermarket food like Trader Joe's was more expensive than Aldi in Europe
and so was everything else, from mobile data to eating out to car repairs

probably had a ~$6k/month spend avg over the 4y I lived there

many interns were paid like shit, if at all
also many companies that hire internationally also accept international interns

Damn I was checking out a couple apartments all the way to Daly City on airbnb most of which were shared with 1 other person for around 1.5k/mo (i guess most could also be scams that low). Also i was thinking of getting an internship for 2 to 3 months only due to signing up for a masters in october. Not counting my plane ticket and apartment last august i spent a little under 500$ during a 10 day stay (also counting in trip to alcatraz, museums and souvenirs) so I'd say around 1500 is more than enough for food monthly.
