Is there any state in the US that is hot year-round and affordable (say $1400/mo rent)?
I lived in Florida for a few years with family and absolutely loved the weather, but said family passed away and I couldn't afford it by myself.
California fits the weather bit by way too pricey, my only other consideration was Arizona but I've read a lot of mixed things about living there.
Southern Arizona is great but you really have to enjoy the desert to enjoy living here. If you don't, you will be miserable. The cost of living in Phoenix suburbs (Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, etc.) has gone up in recent years but there are still a lot of places, especially in Pinal county, that I bet you could find a rental for that price. Owning a car is a must so factor that into your costs. What we lack in public transportation we make up for in a pretty great road network. Other than that, I've lived throughout Arizona pretty much my whole life and I've come to enjoy Phoenix. Overall low cost of living, traffic isn't even that bad, friendly people, no natural disasters, great food, beautiful sunsets and easy access to lakes, hiking, fishing, sports, etc. Since this is /trv/, Sky Harbor is a great airport and transfers to international hubs are dirt cheap. You're 2 hours from snow and skiing (Sedona/Flagstaff) and like 2 hours from the beach in Mexico.
>>2796809 (OP)A lot of people I've known have moved to North Carolina for how cheap it is. Winters are mild, and the rest of the year is good. Although boring state overall.
>>2796851>(Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, etc.) Those are about the areas I was looking in, saw quite a few decent apartments in the price range.
Car would be the only issue but I've mitigated that most of my life by just living near work and a gym.
Thanks for the info, anon.
>>2796854I've thought about the Carolinas but they're a bit too ghetto for my taste.
I went through Raleigh airport and had enough, I think.
>>2796854North Carolina does have comparatively mild winters to the rest of the US but they're definitely way colder than anything a Florida Man would enjoy. 30 degree weather between December and March is still a proper winter.
>>2796809 (OP)El Paso or southern New Mexico if you don't mind dust every fucking day. Gets cold at night in winter tho
>>2796809 (OP)Florida is much warmer than Arizona or California in wintertime. Surely you can find one landlord in all of Florida who is not a bignose and who will rent you a room for a fair price.
>>2797294Cold fronts sweep down in spring and fall too. El Paso in April can be 95 degrees or drop close to freezing.
