>Which ones are worth a visit on this one?
what are you interest in?
what do you want to see, anything special?
what is your budget?
do you speak french?

This question gets asked every few weeks here

Generally

Western Africa is usually not worth the hassle, e.g. Nigeria is painfully boring and incredible Chaotic
Accra and the safe parts of Ghana were nice though as well as Senegal

Central Africa is incredible cool, especially DRC
one of the last actual expedition destinations
but also complex to navigate or expensive if you want anything touristic (e.g. Gabun / Congo)

Eastern Africa is a good "Africa beginner" location
Rwanda is as safe as Europe and all Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are easy to travel around
can get quite pricey though (e.g. National Park entries are usually 50€+/day and 4WD car rentals are 100€+/day)

In Southern Africa (the region, not country)
Namibia and Botswana are nice starter locations as well if you never been to Africa, safe and lots of infrastructure
self drive safaris are pretty cool there
South Africa (country) is cool too but you NEED to plan for your safety

If you give me more context I can recommend more specific locations
I fly down to Africa usually like once or twice per year and visited most countries there

>what are you interest in?

Cool landscapes, cuisine, busy cities and if possible a bit of party.

>what do you want to see, anything special?

Not in particular, I want to "feel the vibe"

>what is your budget?

High

>do you speak french?

Nope

Also: I am a Freelancer so a at least ok Internet connection is required.

>Cool landscapes,
you can have anything from deep tropical rain forest, mangroves, steppe, alpine mountains, deserts and temperate forests / grasslands
I think the most diverse ones are South Africa, Kenya and Ethopia if you want to focus on country

just by most beautiful destinations my favorites were DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana
the Serengeti is kinda a meme but rightfully one of the most beautiful places of earth

>cuisine,
you'll probably be disappointed, most of sub sahran cuisine is not very refined
some great dishes
but it's not the same experience as you'll have in Mexico, France, China, Japan etc.

>busy cities and if possible a bit of party.
Nairobi would be a great start for this
good party scene, relatively safe, plenty expats

>Not in particular, I want to "feel the vibe"
that's still very unspecific
could range form camping in a park to staying in rural mud huts to going bar hopping in a city

>High
just so that you're not surprised, "high budget" in Africa usually means ultra lux
something like Singita lodges are absolutely exceptional but also really expensive

a typical low budget Safari is ~250€/day/person all in

>am a Freelancer so a at least ok Internet connection is required
you'll get that in every big city
one thing to remember though
the undersea cables to EU / USA are not very good and there are basically no local CDNs
so you'll have a high ping and long loading times for basically everything
Starlink made things a lot easier though

Which African country is cheap?
I'm in Kenya right now and while I do enjoy it it makes no sense how food, products and lodging are so expensive (relative to what the locals are making). I want to find an African country that is comparable to Vietnam or Thailand in price.

>Which African country is cheap?
what exactly do you want cheap?

>in Kenya right now
>it makes no sense how food, products and lodging are so expensive
that's because you probably eat, shop and lodge like a tourist / expat
and NOT like a local
plenty of places where you can get a meal for ~200-300KSH, even buffets in that range
but it's gonna be basic local food

local (targeted) business hotels are usually a safe address for cheap hotels
but you'll only find them in the bigger cities

>African country that is comparable to Vietnam or Thailand in price
short answer: there is none!

you won't find the same combination of good infrastructure and low wages anywhere in Africa

you could go to neighboring Uganda
which is cheaper in every aspect than Kenya
but also worse infrastructure and everything imported is gonna be even more expensive than in Kenya

There isn't really much here for 2-300 that tastes delicious like in Asia or LatAm.
>uganda is cheaper but everything is imported so it's not cheaper
Ok?

honestly what did you expect??
>muh I don't like the local food
>why is all the (imported) specialty food I eat more expensive?
top kek
either eat the local food or stop moaning like a bitch about high prices

even in Latam / most of Asia, foreign foods are way more expensive than local foods

>uganda is cheaper but everything is imported
no it's not
just imported non east african food will be more expensive than in Kenya
and stuff like electronics, non-chinese cars / motorbikes and so on
local food is cheaper
rent / hotels are cheaper
clothes and other regionally produced stuff is cheaper

>I'm in Kenya right now and while I do enjoy it it makes no sense how food, products and lodging are so expensive

African method of responding to reduced tourism is to jack up their prices as a collective, so that the smaller numbers of tourists and rich people can be squeezed harder, as opposed to cutting prices to attract more people on a budget.

I spoke to a couple airbnb hosts when I visited about whey they were charging 3x as much as I could get by just asking in person, and they explained to me that occasionally somebody would pay it no questions asked, and so that made it worth keeping the listing price high in order for that occasional dummy to cover 4 months of loan and utilities for a 2 week stay. Pure exploitation.

Top kek lel.You still don't understand africa. If whitey is interested (eg. torusim) they 5x the price then 50x it and suddenly wonder why nobody comes but there was a white tourist 10 years ago so the golden time of income might come back soon or maybe the white devil cursed us so better sacrifice our first born to some crazy ass god(you wouldn't believe the insane Christianity, Islam, Voodoo cross-over religions you will find there) , just wait and hope the UN food truck comes soon.

Kenya is quite cheap, I paid $5-15 for a hotel, you can eat a pile of meat for $5, public transport is also cheap. I would say it's on par with Thailand in terms of prices - if you are not on a safari of course. On safari, yeah the lodges in the parks are expensive, restaurants are expensive and the guides too. And other people in the thread correctly said that the quality of infrastructure is still nowhere near Thailand. It's like South East Asia 20-30 years ago.
Tanzania and Uganda are cheaper than Kenya. Ethiopia is also very cheap, I think Ethiopia is the cheapest African country I've been to.
In the south, Mozambique and Zambia are quite cheap. South Africa a bit more expensive than Thailand, more like Malaysia or Philippines.
Central and West Africa is more expensive in my experience.

Bro I'm not talking about foreign food. Where the fuck did I mention foreign food and what foreign food in Mexico or Thailand can be eaten for just 2-3 dollars? Kenyan food is surprisingly trash though. You would think with the Indian influence they would have made some good dishes.

When I went it was beautiful but I'm just too White for the haggling shit. Having to argue with the negro to get the "real price" which I know is STILL jacked up from what they'll give to their "bruddas" is exhausting. And when you have to do it for EVERYTHING. I know there are personality types that love that shit but I hate it.

>I don't like Kenyan food
yeah, again
that's your problem
not the price

because it certainly is NOT expensive if you eat local food
so the only way to overpay would be
>eating in tourist / hotel restaurants
>eating imported / foreign foods
>fine dining
and normally price is not an issue on the latter one
so I'm assuming you do the first two

then give some examples where it would be cheaper!?
local kenyan food vs local other countries food

not sure what's so difficult to understand that you can get full meals for ~200Ksh
and that's cheap by any standard
