I didn't watch the shitty travel blog video that OP posted, I'm not going to. There are some cities in Europe that are absolutely cooked though.

Rome, Prague, Berlin, Barcelona and maybe Dubrovnik maybe. Along with a handful of small villages. Outside of that things are fine. As long as you don't go the a Disneyland tourist hellscape everything is gravy.

Normal people living normal lives still happens everywhere in western Europe. If you're not able to find it idk what to tell you.

A large part of was draws non-Europeans to Europe is authenticity, whether they admit it or not, most won't I think. You're not getting that when you visit a place like Rome, Venice, Barcelona ect. Everywhere you go in those places 9 out of the 10 people you see have no connection to place you're in, just like you. The locals you see are there to serve you and take whatever money they can from you in most cases. It's transactional at best. While not a bad thing necessarily it certainly is not authentic.

Pair that against going to a more out of the way place Lyon, Leipzig, or Genoa. It's not as "exciting" but more genuine than something like Prague which is a simulacrum at this point.
