Why is it so fucking hard to get here from the US? My wife wants to sleep in one of those stupid bungalows and I was thinking of taking her as a reward for getting pregnant.

Is it worth essentially two days travel each way and is there anything to do besides sit on a beach? Are the beaches really that much better than say Hawaii?

Depends on where you are. From DC we do IAD to Doha, Doha to Male, and then you have to plane or boat to your resort.

Do you think it's worth the hassle and expense compared to just going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean. I'm upper middle class and it seems so fucking expensive like I could go anywhere in the world 5 starts for the same price. I mean it's just a beach right but she is fixated on this.

It’s worth it one time and then never again. Just go to One and Only or somewhere else ritzy in Mexico.

>Maldives
>Why is it so fucking hard to get here from the US?
just don't go there!?

Maldives are for Euros and Asians

>My wife wants to sleep in one of those stupid bungalows
first
they're actually quite /comfy/ if you're there with your wife
my wife wanted that for our honeymoon as well, I wanted to go hiking, so we did 2 weeks Bhutan & Nepal and 1 week Maldives in an overwater bungalow
honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought
plus I went diving almost every day

and second
just go to French Polynesia
or any other Pacific Island
it'll be "only" ~10-16h travel time from the US instead of 24h+

>is there anything to do besides sit on a beach?
make your open water divers license before! Highly recommend.
there's:
>diving, snorkling, kayaking, SUP, jetski, hiking (on bigger islands), drinking, local cooking & culture classes, fishing, (wind / kite) surfing, swimming, oh and lots of sex
it's not my preferred vacation, but for <1week it's alright
>Are the beaches really that much better than say Hawaii?
never been to Hawaii
but privacy and setting is what's special about those islands
the beaches are typical nice, nothing special though

Where else are there those little houses which extend out in to the sea? Pretty sure I've seen them in many places.

Belize?
Polynesia?
Red Sea maybe?
Zanzibar?

I hear Bora Bora has them but it's not nearly as developed and the food sucks.
