Hello im a college student who works for his own tuition. This summer ive saved a lot of money and was wondering what countries are the best bang for my buck? I've been to Japan and Mexico and was wondering if there are any cheap places (you) recommend in South America, Africa, Europe and Asia!

>budget countries
what's your home country?
recommendations depend a LOT on this

>summer ive saved a lot of money and was wondering what countries are the best bang for my buck?
what are we talking here, like 5k€? 10k€? or more?

also how much time do you have?
if you can take off 2+ months continuously, can you move out and stop paying rent?

>there are any cheap places (you) recommend in South America, Africa, Europe and Asia!
depends a lot on how you want to travel...

you can do even the expensive parts of Europe for as little as ~50€/day
if... you do a bicycle tour and go tenting or interrail and you're willing to sleep in trains every few days

generally almost all of Europe can be done a small budget of <75€/day
just be flexible with your dates, take cheap trains / flights and sleep in hostels

non-Euro eastern / central Europe is also quite budget friendly
just avoid / limit time in the big cities like Budapest or Prague

or northern Africa, small budget riads in morocco are like 5€/n
same with Tunisia or Egypt, but the latter one is... exhausting imo

if you want to invest more into flight, aka go for longer
Indonesia, Philippines or most of SEA also works well
Indonesia especially
I went in 2019 for 3months and it came out to about ~24€/day, sleep, food, excursions, surfing everything excluding flights

China also is surprisingly budget friendly if you skip the big4 T1 cities
but basic Mandarin is really helpful and some accommodations might reject you

Sub Sahara Africa is pretty underwhelming on a tight budget
because everything tourist related is expensive (for foreigners)
some cool cities like Brazzaville or Nairobi, though not worth it on it's own

Yeah I just got back from Indonesia and it's still about the same.
Decent hotel room was $15 per night, and meals less than $5 per day. Most meals were under $2.
Picrel was breakfast every day. It cost $1. Tasted amazing every time

>Probably just 2 weeks to travel. Anywhere from 1k to 5k
1k€/$ for 2 weeks certainly is budget
and for that time long haul flights don't amortize through cheap cost of living,
so you should focus on nearby destinations

but with 2k
you're already out of the worst budget constraints and pretty free on where to go and what to do

100€/day and 600€ for flights / transportation is a workable budget everywhere but US/Canada/Switzerland and a few big cities / Island nations

other than that
what exactly do you want to do?
active / sport vacation (think surfing, hiking, climbing or similar? culture? party? history? nature? food?

>Yeah I just got back from Indonesia and it's still about the same.
crazy that the prices didn't change

i guess Indonesia still hasn't caught on as tourist destination outside of Bali
kinda insane, as they have so many gorgeous national parks / nature, diving & surfing spots, great food plus it's very affordable

>Tasted amazing every time
never had a bad meal during my visits, sometimes just okay, but never bad

Unless the room was fan-cooled or the utilities were charged extra, I don't believe you.

For a month-long stay in a condotel in Mindanao, Philippines, you can expect to pay anywhere from ₱8,000 to ₱40,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, depending on location and amenities.

Any cheap places in December you'd reccomend for an American? Preferably Caribbean but also open to Africa and Central/East Asia. Want to avoid Southeast asia. Horrible to get there from where I live.

I probably want to spend somewhere more in the $2K-$3k range. I live on the east coast of the US. Tbh im pretty flexible. Love history and architecture, hiking but love city life especially bars and parties and just socializing with locals (if they speak English lol)

>Any cheap places in December
>also open to Africa
you could do Morocco / Tunisia
it's low season and pleasantly warm (like 20°C on noon)
12days road trip in Tunisia in 2023 was ~120€/day all in for 2 people (40€ accommodation, 20€ food, 45€ car & fuel, 15€ misc), so ~60€p.P./day
Morocco can be done even cheaper, you'll find Riads for like 5-10€/day

>central asia
is basically never cheap
the logistics traveling there always make it kinda expensive (even car rentals, so only budget option is to stay in one place or bicycle touring)

>east asia
China
no public holidays in December so it's low season (new years gets some traffic though)
needs a bit of preparation (get all the apps) but can be done on a shoestring budget
really lots of cool sights and nature
and if you stay in the south (HK -> Kunming) it won't be freezing cold

>Caribbean
no clue about that
only been to Cuba, Aruba, Guadeloupe and Jamaica and all were not on a budget
somewhere around 100-200€/day/person

>in the $2K-$3k range
>live on the east coast of the US
for 1 person for 2 weeks, that's not a tight budget, you can basically freely choose

>and just socializing with locals (if they speak English lol)
that's tricky
either restricts you to the big / main cities of a country, to anglo sphere countries or countries with lots of English speaker (norther & central Europe, East Africa, Greece, Portugal, Philippines etc.)

>Love history and architecture, hiking but love city life especially bars and parties
Greece! (avoiding summer)
few days in Athens, day trip to Delphi
then Corinth, Tripolis and tour around Peloponnese
alternatively head to Naxos or Paros, cool hiking, villages and beaches but overall less to do
Athen has lots of nightlife and plenty people speak English
you can do very cool hikes around all the sights like the Delphi Ancient Path or basically anywhere on Peloponnese (again NOT in summer)

southern Germany also fits your criteria nicely but would probably stretch your budget

Prague and Budapest would also work
either do both cities (with day trips) or tour around after you got enough city, like Cesky Krumlov, Karlstejn, Brno, Karlovy Vary

to add more to consider
>Vietnam
>Colombia
>Morocco
but you won't find that many locals speaking English
Morocco will be missing a prominent nightlife scene
and Colombia doesn't have deep, tourist history sites

Better to give cities than countries. Chiang Mai is still extremely cheap and fun. Can’t same the same about Phuket or Bangkok.
