As an Australian, I always get a crush on American girls I meet abroad, idk something about the accent. Something that really gets me is when there is a girl with a complete asian complexion but was raised in America and speaks American English. hnnnngngnng.

But American's get a bad wrap abroad some of the best times I have had with people in Hostels has been with Americans (young ones that is, not the old boomer type)

On the aggregate American men don’t deserve American women. Unpopular sentiment, but absolutely true. Better looking, better values, more grounded than women anywhere else in the world. Match that with the fucking guys who are just rampant consumerist hogs with no curiosity. Obviously these aren’t universal traits in a country with like 200 million-ish white people, but I’m taking the mean example.

Its the inverse of how New Zealand has the best blokes you’ll ever meet but the shittiest women.

Crazy take. Young American women who travel to Europe are almost always wealthy and feign an aura of authenticity. There are the most impressionable group of people in existence with their only valuable trait being to blend into whatever their surroundings are.

I'd meet these American girls on hostels and they all had almost the same story. Either in a gap year or having just finished their bachelors degree and now "finding themselves" on their parents money. Conversation would be beyond shallow and their personalities would break down in an instant if you stopped giving them the chance to talk about themselves or their weakly held beliefs. They're fine being part of a group but useless alone.

I met an American girl at a hostel in Bogota. She was very friendly and gave me a long hug when we parted ways :) She was headed to Armenia (the city) to take yoga classes.

My opinion of American women is the same as my opinion on American men.
People from "flyover states" tend to be pretty fun, warm, and are excited to be travelling in Europe. They ask you a lot of questions, and it's genuinely nice to see them being so positive and trying to make the most of their trip. They aren't like "MURRICA FUCK YEAH", on the contrary.
Americans from NYC are fucking cold and act like they know everything, even though they don't know how to pronounce one word in the local language of the place they are visiting. They remind me of Parisian French people, and as someone who is French, I don't mean this in a positive way, really. I get that NYC is a urban jungle, but there is more to life than it.

I don't know, I'm only speaking from experience. Again, I had some good experience with American travellers, like this girl who dated a German guy, stunningly beautiful, she was really happy to be in Italy and kept asking questions to me about Europe even though I was looking like a bum. That's the spirit, so I can't blame them, even if they are trust fund kids (and I'm a fucking leftist so I should hate them, I'm French after all)
At the same time, I imagine they must be annoying once they go back home with their "newfound knowledge" they keep shoving in your face, but that's not my problem.
So in the end, I think American women are pretty cool (abroad, at home they seem hellish) and men from NYC are also cool but also too pretentious for their own good.
