Alright boys. Last check in before the trip. Any tips on not dying of heat stroke in the south?

Trip down. Then 5 days in Myrtle Beach with family. Nothing really planned for that.

Bold stuff are the highlights but I'm most excited for
>Multiple Thomas Dambo trolls
>Dinosaur land (gonna go to the caverns nearby after if I have time)
>all the regional BBQ joints
>shenandoah & Red River Gorge hikes
>tons of art museums in Pittsburgh
>Home of punxsutawney phil
>Scranton PA The Office shit

Weather seems less than stellar but I got 4wheel drive, new tires, and a lot of indoor activities planned.

Anything I'm missing out on?

Meh. Road trip checklists are boring. Might as well be back at work checking off the day's tasks.

I've tried just loose exploring but it's more stressful for me than the iten. Plus it's just me out there so this is the base plan that i can move off at any time. At the very least I have to plan out the campsites

The East Coast is difficult to find camping, that's for sure. No national forests from Boston to North Carolina. Traveling along busy transportation corridors is undeniably more stressful than making your own route across the countryside through a region with plentiful public land.

Don't get it twisted. I'm avoiding all major freeways on my route. I basically just looked up camping sites about 8hr away from each other using google maps "avoid freeways" option. Then build along that route. Outside of dipping in and out of major cities, it's scenic country highways throughout

Is it worth taking a several day road trip alone?
To me it seems even more pathetic than typical solo travel because of the long car rides

This will be my fourth. I enjoy it. Would probably be better with another person but I get to eat a lot of strange sandwiches and see cool museums. Hard to ask for more

The US and state highways can be even more full of stressful traffic, stoplights, people suddenly making left turns on a narrow two-lane road, etc. Especially when you're pushing yourself to cover 300+ miles in a day instead of a more reasonable 100.

There are still opportunities to meet people as a traveler in America, but if you're in a big hurry to check off an itinerary like OP, you won't have the time to wander around socializing and maybe getting invited to something.

100 miles is only like 2 hours of driving per day. I see your point but I'm not sure how realistic it would be to bank on being invited to things or risk having to fill 6hrs of blank space.

In my experience leaving one campground at 7am and arriving at the other around 10pm works well. Comes out to about 5-8hrs of driving per day and 7-10hrs of activities. Like I built in several hours of just wandering around Nashville while being able to stop at all the museums I want and spend over an hour at each.

If you don't do the iten thing, does any prepro go into your trips?

Also, again, the itinerary is just a blueprint of the ideal day. If I'm enjoying something I'm not just gonna leave cuz a piece of paper say it's time to go.

If I can go to everything I want, great. If I miss the last thing cuz it closed, ah well nbd. Same deal with rain.
