Eventually you WILL fall asleepOftentimes as other anons have said layover time at the airport is just enough that you'll get bored but not enough that you actually have time to leave the airport and do anything interesting (not to mention that if you do leave the airport then you have to go through security again which may be a hassle). If the airport is even remotely interesting then just walking around and shopping for local knickknacks can be a decent distraction for a little bit. Apart from that there's really no option but to thug it out, as another anon said patience is a traveler's virtue
