Do you usually travel abroad with no time limit and then just go home whenever? Or do you usually already have your return trip home planned?
Most of my trips have always been done with a one-way ticket and then i just buy a return ticket when im ready to go home or maybe have some obligations to go home for
It sucks one-way tickets tend to be more and Im trying to figure out whats a better way to return home cheaply but also with a more flexible date. (Someone said if I fly at least main cabin or business class with most airlines. I can usually exchange return date for free or cheaply)

But im mostly wondering if you guys also usually fly one way (YOLO)
Or if you can only get 2 weeks off for your trip (wage cuck)

Last year was my first year traveling with a time limit and buying round trip, i went to Poland twice for 3 weeks each time.
It was actually kind of nice knowing I already had the return ticket bought and having the time limit made it easier to spend more $ on fancier dining and lodging instead of traveling longer term and being cheap

>Do you usually travel abroad with no time limit and then just go home whenever?
if I travel by train, yes
did a lot of open ended interrail travel during university
or took random RyanAir flights every few day where ever it was cheap and hopped around Europe like this for 3 months

but rarely nowadays
because I only have 34 vacation days (~7weeks) per year
and I have to allocate them all at the beginning of the year

my typical schedule
>3-4 weeks in April
>3-4 weeks in October
and the one week Christmas, but that's with my family, not traveling

this year I was in Argentina in April
I booked my round trip flight to Buenos Aires from the start to the end of my vacation
but I didn't plan / book anything in between
took 3 spontaneous domestic flights

same procedure a year ago in China
booked rt to Beijing
but ended up traveling lots with high speed train / domestic flights spontaneously

>one-way tickets tend to be more
not only this but sometimes just not available

if you're a wagie (like me) it doesn't make much sense to have a flexible return date
gotta be back at a specific day to work again
and I have yet to come across a regular sized country with not enough to do for 3-4 weeks

>Only rich neets can do this
or students

my (euro) university had a ~1month break between exams and each new semester
barely any lectures had attendance
so I often traveled for 2-4 months (or how ever long I wanted) at a time
sometimes just to be back in time for exams

granted my grandmother herself traveled A LOT in her youth (she unironically mogs Ibn Battuta, Marco Polo or Zheng He)
and she gave me ~600€/month during my whole university time under the condition I spend it exclusively on traveling
which I did

For long-term travelers, the savings of a round-trip flight must be measured against the cost of having to return to your original destination for departure. Yeah, it's true that the more expensive tickets allow you to change dates and even itineraries, but that's why they're more expensive.
>one way tickets tend to be more
They don't have to be if you plan your travels around the best deals.
My departure itinerary was Denver - Istanbul - Bangkok for 600 EUR; my return itinerary nine months later is Vilnius - Istanbul - Denver for 550 EUR. The intermediate flight, Kuala Lumpur - Sharjah - Warsaw, cost 310 EUR. The Denver to Bangkok trip I did all in one go, 42 hours straight, but the other two involve comfy overnight layovers and new passport stamps.

>one ways can be cheap if planned out
Yeah shit i hardly ever see one ways going from EU to USA be priced cheaply
I do see good one way prices in USA to EU though (which is part of my problem right now)

Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous how much it costs to fly from Europe to America with most European carriers in summertime. The direct one-way flight from Frankfurt to Raleigh costs over $2000 USD! Norse Atlantic's Berlin to JFK flight is one of the more reasonably priced options, though fares spike in midsummer as well. Checking their website, I see a $268 fare for August 29th, and multiple sub-$300 fares for September with the lowest being a $216 fare for September 10th.

europoors have to hobble around hostels and eat out of cans while traveling to "other countries" aka taking a 7 euro bus to some dumpster city to try the kebab in that part of the EU and then laugh that americans "only" get their employers to pay them for 14-28 of the days they are on vacation, usually in tropical paradises or metro areas of distinctly different cultures to the point americans take it for granted and don't really care outside of flexxing on instagram to their poor friends and jealous europoors.
