I'm flying Delta First Class later this month, it's my first time flying Delta. What should I expect?

It’s just an airline. A regular, normal good (economic meaning) airline that’s not substandard (like a low cost carrier). Hard product depends on equipment: If domestic first class, expect recliners unless trans-con or to Hawai’i. If lie flat on domestic route, they will skimp a little bit on soft product compared to international route where they must compete. In other words, it’s like every other large airline with full service

Domestic or intra Europe first class is a joke and not to be compared to international business or first class.

Soft product
>pre departure drink
>in flight drink
>small meal served on a plate, think mixed fruit, a little salad, a chicken breast and a cookie or something like that
>a coffee or whatever
Hard product
>2 seats in a row instead of 3
>reclining seat with some more legroom
>slightly larger entertainment screen

As a first class passenger you will have access to the lounge in the airport, where you can get a few more snacks and alcoholic beverages. Definitely take advantage of that.

For me, Delta is a pretty comfy airline, even just flying main cabin, so id probably just bite the bullet and fly regular, then spend the money I would have spent on a slightly larger seat and chicken breast on some prix fixe menu at a Michelin star restaurant at my destination, but thats just me.

Delta One is the whole lay-flat seat deal, and it is overpriced as a motherfucker. The best way to get these seats is with free upgrades or points.

This board is rife with “first class” threads to the point where its shitting up the joint

Yes. Most people here won't fly at all, much less even afford Business class.

the first class meal is decent. make sure you select what you want beforehand or you'll get whatever is left. being able to board and exit early is nice too. overall though first class on something that's not emirates is a meme. hopefully it's a free upgrade and you didn't pay extra.
