I'm planning on visiting Cairo but I've heard a lot of negative stuff and that it is on par with India.

here we go

>that it is on par with India.
lots of similarities
especially if you stay in the touristy spaces
though might note that India as tourist is better than portrait on 4chan

main difference is, that you can actually live decently in India in the right places
there is nowhere in Egypt that's bearable long term
irrelevant as tourist...

>'m planning on visiting Cairo
you're gonna be fine
don't get scammed
be assertive when conversing with anyone
be alert at all time and adhere to normal security precautions for 3rd world / poor countries

Luxor might be a nice addition if you have the time

Indians are more averse to physical conflict than MENAs/Egyptians. If you push an Indian, chances are he'll mutter a complaint and leave you alone. If you shove an Egyptian who is pestering you, he'll call over his buddies and they'll surround you and start shit. Maybe even get the police involved.

if you're a white person
corruption is worse in Egypt as you don't get special treatment

police siding with scammers at popular sites is basically an Egypt only problem

but again
as tourist you're generally fine
it's not some high risk destination

most people dislike Egypt
because losing 50€ to a scammer feels really bad
the constant haggling + hustling culture is SUPER exhausting
and the cities are really low quality of life (pollution, noise, car centered, ugly)

It’s not on par with India. Egypt has an incredible amount of ancient monuments and sites that are incomparable.

yes it has probably the worst poverty I've ever seen and also the worst scammers. From the time you get off the plane to the time you leave every single person will try to scam you. Sand niggers in the airport in suits with lanyards trying to help you with your bags and get you a taxi but guess what, THEY DO NOT WORK THERE

VR headsets are created for countries like this. You can walk around, see everything in scale, explore, and its so realistic your brain actually thinks its real, all while avoided the satanic heat and hoards of scamming 3rd worlders.

Really liked Egypt
Read all these treads about how horrible it was etc. I was “scammed”, what is common, but it was 10$ so literally who cares. Cairo Museum was great, pyramids were cool, I also liked the bazaar what was open really late. But you must go to Luxor/ Aswan somewhere else! Those are the cities what make Egypt special.

I keep hearing how bad it is but did anyone ever try Aswan? Its so far away from Cairo, maybe the scamming isn't there? Yes I saw this on my windows.

Everywhere tourists go its bad. If you want Egypt without tourist scammers its either way the fuck off the beaten path, like...unknown villages or the slums where no ruins exist or you stick with a tour. Even with the tour you'll have a couple evenings of walking around and that will be your fill of it. Otherwise its constant, unrelenting.

I stayed in average apartment in the middle of Cairo so I didnt experience it until I went to the big markets or pyramids.

And yes, I visited Aswan, from Abu Simbel to Alexandria (two of the major mosques there were pretty, more interesting than the Roman ruins or rebuilt library).

I've replied a lot on this comment. It's tiring to give the same advice.

In short: yes. Long answer: if you're not a faggot.

Protip:
DO NOT FUCKING GO TO GIZA!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO TO SAQARRA AND DAHSUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not an archaeologist. You don't care about the differences. Both sites are old as fuck pyramids with history.
Difference is: Dahshur and Saqarra = ZERO tourism and near zero hassle.

>>2803237
Aswan is cool. Very chill in comparison to the rest of the country. Apparently they practise a difference breed of Islam.
I can recommend Bob Marley hostel.
Falluca at sunset in Aswan = !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Visit the ruins on the other side of the river
Haggle childfags to get boat rides for dirt cheap across the river.
Take a Nile cruise to Aswan !!!!ON THE SPOT NOT ONLINE!!!!! for <$100/night ''''all inclusive'''' per room. Make sure you stock up at the '''''duty free'''' room near the port.

In Luxor rent bikes and cycle valley of kings.

I used to live there in 2011 or 2012, or so. People may recognise me from threads.

Do it. But don't be fag.

This is bulllshit and contradictory. The advice really is, avoid:
>giza pyramids
>luxor corniche (there's a kino bar on it though)

And you're golden. You said it yourself more or less. If you don't go to the hypersites, the hassle is manageable. All you need to do is:
>say "la'a
>click your tongue
>say "emshi" if they persist

based enjoyer.
There's honestly not a country in the world which can compare if you can filter the most basic of poorfags and learn 10 Arabic words.
It's literal Indiana Jones.

I recently went through the process of buying a luxury townhouse right outside Cairo in the desert for 70k. Getting credit linked and not transferred was difficult and a long process but ultimately doable. I finalized the sale at the nadir of Egyptian-US currency last month so I got a very good deal. It should cost at least $120k or more. The balcony has a direct view of the Giza pyramids and Cairo lit up at night off the the side. It’s in a gaurded neighborhood with international richfags and expats. Has its own parks, courts, gathering areas halls etc, and great schools incl American ones.

Overall Egyptian scammers are very eay to beat since they have a strong aversion to spic tier violence. You have to trick them and get them to fuck off and get seperated from you. That’s one reason people go out in groups there. You’ll get fucked with more alone. Oh, pro-tip, if your woman wears a burka you will suddenly not get fucked with.

People there can be kind hearted but be smart. Egypt is the safest country in Africa and has almost no violent crime. The police WILL FUCK UP any violence and their culture just simply absorbs any non-aversive behavior and gets rid of itz

I like Egypt alot and probably gonna eventually cheaply invest in a coastal villa.

Two weeks max, full package tour the whole way, there are no souveniers you wont throw away eventually, its all cheap or mass produced crap.

Or....spend a couple months there. Have a shisha. Have two.

If you like pyramids, go see the red one, its as huge as giza's and you can visit it alone, its not a theme park.

Go visit the new museum also.

I went to a quasi-strip bar with a local in Cairo, just us two in the whole place, super awkward.
