Stay on the west side of the island, Lipa Noi beach area. It's beautiful with amazing sunsets and the tourism there bearable. You could go further south as well for a more Thai experience. If you stay in the the NE or Lamai like most people do, you must enjoy clogged af streets and people all over. But the nightlife is there.
