I'm thinking of taking a chance of scenery for a few days in the next two weeks, any ideas?

>33, living in Belgium
>preferably by car
>no mass tourism shit, wrong time of year to do that

I was thinking of maybe going to a spa resort for a few days to relax, perhaps Baden-Baden or something, or alternatively go to some idyllic coastal town in northern France to drink wine and eat mussels.

I enjoy taking walks but I'm not a very active person otherwise.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks frens

>perhaps Baden-Baden
i mean the major attraction of Baden Baden are it's thermal baths (Friedrichsbad is very cool)
which are significantly nicer in winter

other than this Baden-Baden itself is good for maybe 2-3 days
if you spend at least half a day in the sauna / thermal bath

black forest is really nice for hiking
it's not alpine, so lighter hikes would definitely work for you

if you enjoy historic stuff
the region in general is interesting
see
>https://www.schloesser-und-gaerten.de/en/about-us/our-regions
like the Maulbronn Monastery (even UNESCO)
or plenty of castles along the Rhine (usually go along with a short hike / long walk)

Thanks anon, Friedrichsbad seems very cool indeed. Is it much busier in winter than summer?
If not I'll keep it in mind to maybe go for an extended weekend in November or something.

>black forest is really nice for hiking
I was thinking more like walks on the beach, 1h tops, not actual hiking kek.
The Monastery looks cool though. Would be nice if there's a place like that where you can stay for a few days and just wind down and get away from it all.

>Is it much busier in winter than summer?
yeah it is
but absolutely fine
they limit entrance and you should book beforehand
avoid the days with clothes though... different, unpleasant crowd

if you enjoy historic saunas / thermal baths you could to
Friedrichsbad in Baden-Baden
Vierortbad in Karlsruhe
Palais Thermal in Bad Wildbad
go for half a day and explore the surrounding the other half day

other cool ones in the region are
Therme Sinsheim, one of the biggest (in the world?)
Therme Beuren, Therme Überlingen, Cassiopeia Therme, Palais Thermal

if you want outside Baden Württemberg I've got more kek

>I was thinking more like walks on the beach, 1h tops, not actual hiking kek.
northern France is probably better then
Black Forest is more of an "active" destination
there are some wellness / spa hotels but I always find them kinda expensive for what they offer

Strasbourg would also be in the region and has stuff for a few days
go down to Colmar and maybe Freiburg and just chill in the old towns

Not specifically, only the idea of being in a place doing nothing in particular appeals to me.

I have two weeks off work, plenty of cash and no real obligations so I felt like going somewhere for maybe 2 or 3 days just for the hell of it. All ideas are welcome.

Might still go for Friedrichsbath, summer or not.

Colmar is awesome, I visited it a few years ago on the way back from Italy. Lots of American tourists but it's a gorgeous town and there was a place there that had the most amazing cordon blue I've ever had.

a few other ideas i personally enjoyed in the last few years for exactly this (+hiking which I love but you can just ditch)

>Bavarian Alps
near a lake, just get as much distance between you and Munich as you can to avoid weekend crowds
plenty of really nice hotels
>Lake Como (/ Maggiore / Iseo / Garda / Lugano / Orta)
it's way less mass touristy than you'd expect
and the perfect "sipping coffee and reading on the porch with nice views" destination
>Lake Annecy
pretty similar vibe but French

i think you get the pattern here
mountains + lake = less tourists than beach destination
and lakes are mentioned all have nice towns to explore around

>Pitigliano (Tuscany)
a little different
generally Tuscany is not too badly overrun

something completely different
>kayak / canoe tour on the Loire
it's very serene and you don't have to anything besides paddling
you rent all the stuff for a week and they'll usually take you back to your car at the end

They're all great ideas, but a bit far to go to for just a few days.
I know I said I have two weeks off work but I'm only looking for a brief getaway. Plenty of things to look forward to at home.

(Also, I disagree with Tuscany not being overrun though, I love that place but I only go there end of August, beginning of September at the earliest). If you ever go back there may I recommend a visit to Castello di Ama? If you like wine and art you will not be disappointed, promise.

>bump
what's there to bump?

not like there are many option

you want to travel during the busiest vacation time, but no mass tourism, which excludes most destination within ~500km of Belgium
you want to do nothing in particular and no hiking / active stuff, which means the place has to be inherently interesting

pick your poison
>beach towns in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France or UK
filled with tourists, expensive but interesting and, well, beach
>rural lakes or national parks
less touristy but short walks will take you no where and you'd be driving around a lot to get to interesting spots
also relaxing part would highly depend on the hotel
>some bigger city
filled with tourists, not really relaxing, but at least getting to things is not stressful

just pick any decently sized (large property and less boring), upscale (less people, less cramped) spa hotel in a scenic location and chill there
sounds like you won't see much around anyway, so why bother searching endlessly for the "perfect" destination
