I want to go to some other country for 9 days and walk around enjoying scenic views and architecture. I don't care about "experiences" or whatever. I seriously just want to walk around somewhere different than where I currently live and look at the ocean or something and then get some kind of local dish for dinner every day.

Current leading choices are Croatia (decent public transit and safe but more urban) and Grenada (small enough to basically walk the whole island in a day, more nature hiking)

I'm thinking of staying part of the time in a hostel to make some friends or doing at least one group tour, then just fucking off and doing whatever I want with no plans for the rest of the week.

I don't care what the weather is like as long as it isn't cold and it isn't over 100F. If it's monsoon season that's fine, I love rain.

Where are you from anon? If America/Canada, then anywhere in Europe is that. Otherwise, go to Georgia

from america. Croatia seems to have a balance of european aesthetics and walkability with less touristy pricing and less rude people than, say, italy or france

Croatia isn't cheap in the summer. Look into Montenegro for cheaper Med beach experience.
