Going to be spending a week in Portland, Oregon next month for a wedding. Are there any cool areas throughout Oregon that are accessible via public transportation directly from Portland? (Preferably train)

Just rent a car if you want to go anywhere outside the city.

You can always just google it and see what interests you

you will need a rental/zipcar
multnomah falls
hood river (cute small town) day trip
there was this monastery that was really cool with gardens you could walk around in - totally forget the name - seemed uber-able from downtown
day trip to cannon beach (coast) to see haystock rocks

just walk around downtown and the pearl when you are in town - the downtown is eminently walkable - and take the tourist streetcar - if it still exists - and you sound rich - portland is a hippy town - maybe offer some weirdo 300-400 bucks to drive you around for the week if you don't want to drive
the train is useful for getting from the airport into town - yes - but not really otherwise

portland is fascinating because - well - maybe this has changed - it doesn't have the "angry violent blacks in the wrong areas waiting to hurt you" component other cities do so the white people actually get to build nice stuff without worrying about it disappearing or being destroyed

I remember a lot of quaint architecturally interesting buildings/shops sort of in between downtown and the highway - but you will need a car/driver somehow

you could see multnomah falls on the way out to hood river (I think)
but I would do that and cannon beach on different days - don't skip a day at the oregon coast if you've never seen it

OH and the best restaurants (hipster) were like bars that serve food in the alphabet district (nw of downtown)
and north portland is funky and hip - go for a concert or coffee or something

Yeah I'm probably going to do this, Portland seems like a fun city to walk around for a day or two. I've actually been to Portland once before but didn't get much of a chance to walk around the downtown area on my own as I was mostly tagging along with my family going to outside areas. Might even rent a bike to ride around downtown if it's affordable.
>and you sound rich
I'm not :(
>the train is useful for getting from the airport into town
oh well, was hoping I could take a nice scenic one-way train ride to somewhere nice outside of Portland and back for a day, but I guess I will just have to make do without that option
>you could see Multnomah falls on the way out to hood river (I think) but I would do that and cannon beach on different days - don't skip a day at the Oregon coast if you've never seen it
Yeah I guess I might as well stop by Multnomah falls if I'm heading towards hood river, especially if I decide to rent a car. Also I've already been to Cannon Beach but I definitely want to explore other areas of the Oregon coast, hopefully on a day where it's not overcast.

Might check these out as well, hopefully I can get to talk to qt hipster alt chicks (there's absolutely none where I live)
Thankies for the suggestions :>

You can't visit Portland and not go to a strip club. It's literally considered one of capital of strip clubs in the US.
