Where do you recommend around Ithaca NY, Syracuse NY and Elmira NY. I am looking for vistas, waterfalls, museums, local hipster restaurants, and locally made art (glass, lathed wood bowls, pottery).

I want to get nice photographs. This photo is not NY but I like gorges - especially gorges of smaller bodies of water.

I did that one last time. Looking for other places. I am contemplating Watkins Glen - but I feel like trying to get to Lucifer Falls @ Treman State Park will be enough of a challenge and potentially less crowded.

Yeah but um how to put this - I visited a few months ago - stopped at a gas station just outside of town - no public restroom - very public area had to scramble to find somewhere to pull over and pee - not a friendly place - lots of weird diverse people hoppin' around - no backpacks allowed in the gas station shop - always a bad sign
just not great vibes
and my other experience with ithaca was my mom took us on a college tour there when I was a teen and she made us go in cold weather so we wouldn't think it was idyllic and it was like late november and freezing and I remember somehow standing at the top of a gorge that was (on campus?) and thinking I would kill myself from the weather if I went there.

I want to do Treman State Park but I'm still a bit confused as to whether the west or east trailhead makes for an easier hike to the falls and if the rim trail is worth bothering with to get a view of the falls from above or I should just do the easier out and back hike to Lucifer falls - it looks hard no matter what
also ithaca is full of weird vegetarian people and its kinda snooty just odd vibes I am hoping syracuse isn't totally depressing

Watkins Glen was cool. I saw an Asian teenie wearing only a bra and shorts in the parking lot of the state park on a hot, humid summer day. Her dad gave me a suspicious glare as I tried to snap a photo in passing.
