Work is offering me a 2-week paid trip to either Oklahoma or Kansas. I'll be there alone and will have 99% of the time to myself. I won't have a car, but can expense some transit costs. For reference, I'm from New York.

Which should I choose? Which state has more interesting stuff to do in it? Lemme know, /trv/.

Can you just ask for the money to be paid to you in full and stay in NYC?

I wish. I'm a radio engineer that needs to be there to review some machinery.

Visit Kansas. It has proper rail service. You can take an early morning train to Trinidad, Colorado and return to Kansas in the evening.

As someone from kansas i would very strongly urge you to rent a car for this trip. Otherwise you're basically a cripple in either state.

How will you even do that without a car?

Seems like he's a tower jockey who rides along with the technician in their work vehicle. Fun job, but you can't take the work vehicle to the bar. My brother drives a truck and uses a foldable e-scooter to go to town from the truck stop and raise hell.

You won't notice a difference between the two and without a car your mobility is going to be very limited. Are you going to be in a metro area or out in the fields?

Exactly that. I'll have the ability to expense things like taxis and Ubers. Not interested in taking an Amtrak.

Metro in both cases. Tusla and OKC in Oklahoma or Wichita in Kansas. I'm willing to travel to more rural areas, but I'm not leaving the state in either case.

Do you get to choose where to stay in the cities? If so just stay in the downtown hipster neighborhoods where it's not as bad without a car
>>2811084
technically yes, but nothing really changed if you aren't native
