One of my bucket lists trips is to walk on the beach on a rainy day. I'm assuming the Oregon coast in November is my best bet, but what town should I get a hotel in if I wanted to do this cheaply?

Fly to the Gulf Coast if you want to do it cheaply. Pensacola/Gulf Shores/Pass Chistian

This years wet season is Date: Sun, Jun 1, 2025 โ€“ Tue, Sep 30, 2025

It will rain nearly every day, several times a day. I lived on the Gulf Coast for a decade.
You can even camp in the national and state parks.

Totally different vibe than the Oregon Coast (I've been both places).

Pensacola is hot, wet and feels like a tropical city this time of year. Eat: Waffle House, grits and fried shrimp. Beaches are expansive and white with tepid water. Vibe is a party atmosphere.

Oregon is cool and cloudy in the rainy season. Eat: hipster coffee, geoduck, Tillamook cheese and umqua ice cream. Beaches are rocky and the ocean is rough and stormy. Vibe is quiet small town USA.

Newport, Astoria, Florence, ar Reedsport. And you can go Nov-April for rain. Astoria will be easiest to reach from the PDX airport, but the drive south on 101 is a banger not to be missed - rent a car and go to Astoria, then drive south. You will hit rain for sure. Stop at Moeโ€™s for chowder, Rogue Brewery is world class, they still have Arctic Circle in Newport, too if you want retro fast food (good). The Hatfield Marine Science Center is sick, Free Willy lived there for several years (Keiko, the whale from the movie).

America is truly blessed with amazing coastlines and remarkably clean water for a developed country. You have the diverse Atlantic coasts from Maine in the North all the way south to Charleston and then down to the Florida Keys. Then the Redneck Riviera aka the Gulf Coast. Then the Pacific from Baja California up through the PNW to Anchorage and the arctic. And letโ€™s never forget Hawaii. And then theres the Great Lakes if you are desperate.

Picrel is from when Top Gear traveled the I-10 corridor through the Gulf Coast.

The Oregon coast is amazing for walking. It's a testament to American exceptionalism in public access to a preserved shoreline.
>which town should I get a hotel
Literally anywhere you want
Drive the whole coast

Biggest downside of Oregon is the Oregonians. They're either hyper-aggressive raging lumberjacks in big trucks, or medicated zombie drivers in ancient cars. Everyone ignores you in public. It's like the whole state is hitting the THC vape pen at dawn.
