again with the soulless thing, are we just done as a species? nothing has come out that wasnt soulless in a long time. did we run out of souls? does heaven need a refill? is it because certain kinds of people have no souls and they have been getting the writing gigs lately? discuss.

At its peak, Disney's live-action remakes earned massive box office returns. The 2019 remake of The Lion King was the highest-grossing of them all, earning over $1.6 billion worldwide. However, the Law of Diminishing Returns began to take effect. Audiences grew fatigued with the formula, and each subsequent remake earned progressively less. Eventually, this downward trend culminated in the commercial failure of the Snow White remake

I have no idea why Lilo & Stitch is performing so well. At this point, it almost feels like someone made a deal with Satan himself.

movies used to be made by people that had an idea they obsessed over and wanted to create.
some love was put into the project.
now people are hired purely to tick off a huge list of boxes set by execs and nobody gives a fuck at all because there is no space for individual creative input.

Soulless means that it lacks spirit or creative energy. It's not genuine or made for the love of the creation itself and it shines through clear as day for most people every time.
Hollywood is dead because they don't create anymore, it has nothing to do with us as "a species".
They are purely business oriented, and never take chances or let genuine creatives actually CREATE.
It's all checklists and balance sheets and for that reason they will keep making flops.
Only children (physical or mental ones) are dumb enough to want to see their "by committee" bullshit products.

I keep seeing the trailer for this and it's basically just the entire learning to fly sequence redone shot for shot. It makes me think the rest of the movie is a shot for shot remake with the same music, which normally I would say is a smart idea since How to Train your Dragon is already a good movie. The problem is they fucked up the casting. If you are doing a shot for shot remake then why cast Astrid as a nigger or mulatta or whatever the fuck she is? How hard was it to find a cute blonde girl?

I really enjoy the original movies and I think the original cast is part of that. When will these people learn that casting ugly mystery meat people is going to tank your movies success? People want to see attractive White people in their movies, especially when the casting calls for that. Casting mystery meatoids just cheapens the whole thing and makes it not feel legit

I'd say it's a 50/50 strike rate at best. Snow White, Little Mermaid, Mufasa, Dumbo were flops and Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan and Pinocchio were clearly all projected to be massive flops due to their horrendous quality so they got dumped onto Disney Plus. They've had some wins but I bet overall it's about break even when you look at ROI.

Probably because L&S is incredibly popular. Sure it might not be as in your face as other things, but at least out and about around where I live, I see more Stitch stuff, be they clothes or car stickers, than pretty much any other Disney-themed merchandise. The original movie crosses a lot of generations, since you have nostalgic millennials and early zoomers who watched it when it was new (some of who are now parents themselves who will take their kids to see it), Gen Alpha kids who want to see it because Stitch is still a zany little alien, and Boomers plus early Gen Xers who like Stitch in the same way they like the Minions. It isn't like there's much hope for any new real Lilo and Stitch movies or series, so at this point, a soulless live action cashgrab is the best they're going to get and what they're willing to settle for. I highly doubt that many of the people going to see it will wind up preferring it to the original, and within a year, rewatches of the original movie and series will assuredly exceed the number of people who go back to watch the live action version.
Like just think about that live action Aladdin remake. Sure it did well, but in 2025, do you think anybody who says "hey, let's watch Aladdin" is talking about the live action one, and do you think anybody would actually seek (serious) clarification when posed with that question?

Most of those "dorky" "white" guys were still 7/10s. They just slapped them in schlubby clothes and played up their "lovable awkwardness" so they'd pass as Hollywood 4/10s. This is for a particular reason, because they want the female audience, and the female audience is inherently repulsed by any man involvee in a fictional romance who isn't at least a 6/10. Yes, Seth Rogen is much more attractive than the average man (symmetrical face, strong jaw, good chin, deep-set eyes), which is why they made they that stupid Knocked Up movie. This is why you'll never see somebody like, say, Tim Robinson as a lead even in a "dorky guy gets hot girl" movie, because he's more of a real life 4-5/10.

I was 20 when the first How to Train your Dragon came out.
This is bad for the economics of the movie, because even the people I know who had kids their kids aren't over 10. Basically anyone who enjoyed How to Train Your Dragon when it came out is probably 25 or younger. They don't have kids and they certainly don't have kids that would be good to go see an action-heavy adventure about 3D animals flying around.
When Lilo and Stitch came out I was 12, so people who had kids in their 20s have kids who are about the age to take them to it and people who had kids in their 30s remember how popular the character was with kids.

I really hated this era of filmmaking, it psyopped an entire generation into worshipping pussy. It's like the shitty modern anime where the protag is a feckless loser who spends 200 chapters unable to ask a girl out and is saying dumb shit like "she locked us into the storage closet together and she's taking her clothes off, does this mean she's angry at me..?" and then acting like it's the greatest achievement in human history to get a first date.
it's repulsive on a visceral level. it inflates women's egoes to the outer reaches of the solar system and teaches men they should consider themselves lucky if a woman deigns to grace him with her presence of a few moments.

nigga Hollywood has always been controlled by megacorps. are you forgetting there was an era where Hollywood films existed to be 90 minute commercials for DuPont and General Motors? Leftys have been crying about "late stage capitalism" since Marx himself was alive. what actually happens is companies grow, get fat, rot, and get displaced. it's a cycle, one that takes a generation or two. and every generation thinks theirs is the "end stage" because they're historically illiterate and don't understand this has happened a dozen times before.

The people subscribing to streaming services are the problem. They have no real incentive to make good content when people are paying for their services regardless of what dogshit they're putting out. Instead, they're dishing out money to their friends and family members because you're going to pay for it anyway, so why not?

L&S is the youngest movie Disney's remade (yet), so it's touching on direct nostalgia from millennials and zoomers. It was also relatively controversy free, with the biggest issue (the shitty ending) only being revealed after hordes had already bought their tickets.

As someone posting on this website, I'm sure you're aware Snow White was the centre of multiple online shitstorms. The movie itself is an adaptation of a film that's nearly 100 years old. While Disney's done a better job at keeping their library relevant than anyone itself, the audience that movie was most important to are dead.

Hollywood is a business. Universal and DreamWorks are owned by Comcast, a publicly traded company. Adaptations and sequels are the bulk of the highest grossing films year in and year out. Doing remakes like this allows companies to cash-in on the goodwill and nostalgia from the original film. Zoomers are old enough to buy movie tickets and have kids themselves. Minecraft was the same story.

Lilo and Stitch hard carried Disney in the early 2000s. Stitch was basically promoted to the Mickey Mouse friend group in theme park merch and was inescapable for quite a while.
Really what caused him to fade to the background was John Lasseter getting into the company, booting Chris Sanders off of his victory lap project American Dog and turning it into the mediocre sludge that was Bolt, and asserting his and Pixar's dominance.

>Do not improve Shitdongistan
>Do not internalize that Shitdongistanians are the reason Shitdongistan is shit
>Attempt to leave Shitdongistan and bring Shitdongistanians to the rest of the world
>Rest of the world becomes Shitdongistan

Realistically here, there's an element of truth to what you're saying. It is as much the fault of the people letting them in as it is the fault of the people coming here, but lets not get it twisted that both are responsible. If the Shitdongistanians would do even a moment of self-inspection and self-realization they'd realize that they're the problem and not attempt to export that problem to places that work. Instead they'd spend their time tearing down their fellow Shitdongistanians to try and keep them contained in Shitdongistan so the rest of the world need not contract the disease. If you have an internalized hatred of something and you know you have it, like, say, AIDS, the proper thing to do is to leave the sexual dating market so you don't spread AIDS. You're not supposed to go date women in other countries so at least it isn't Shitdongistanians getting AIDS but rather foreigners you don't give a fuck about.

In an ideal world, where people are rational, they would do what you suggest, they would stay in their country and improve it instead of leaving for greener pastures. Unfortunately the people who are in a situation where they feel compelled to live their country for a better functioning one have no power to make a tangible effect on the dire situation of their place of origin, such countries are troubled by problems so deeply rooted that solving them would require a miracle. The only realistic thing you as a Shitdongistaner can do to live a better life is to just leave, you only live once after all. Most likely to feel compelled to "fix" your own country you need willpower, and a sense of community, of belonging, that your sacrifice will do good to your fellow countrymen, but that's just something that isn't there because of atomization, living in the city does that but also using electronics has this dis-integrating effect where you feel disconnected from your compatriots, you don't really love them enough to risk your neck for them, hence emigration.

All that being said I would still oppose immigration, the excessive, demographic replacement kind, but I see where these people are coming from

Well, I hope they're happy with being the AIDS in my nation because now we have all the same problems with community, governance, decency, standards and rationality. I can't blame them for leaving Shitdongistan but I can blame them for turning the nation I was born in into it, certainly. Now my countrymen are doomed to be Shitdongistanians and Shitdongistan is still Shitdongistan. I guess the next step is for all of us to go to the next nation so that it can become Shitdongistan as well, since there's no hope for us here.

The actual solution is quite simple, very straightforward, and wholly understood by most nations prior to the 1960s. Whites extract wealth, browns are extracted from, browns stay in the AIDS zone because browns are the AIDS. Now what choice is there for improvement? Our choices are to burn everything and start over again or just wait while things keep getting worse. The disease is already here and it doesn't want to leave. We're certainly not going to convince them that brown-ness is the problem, either, so I guess it comes back around to fire and blood versus waiting and rotting.

Too be fair, all of them aside from Astrid are supposed to be ugly in the movie. No reason for her to be fat though. Also, why is the guy a ginger?

I just checked out the trailer again and it looks cheap. No colors (in a children's movie!), lifeless acting, CGI looks very CGI next to the actors, trailers spoils the whole story.

>Like yo you have no artistic integrity?
Directors often like to rather ruin their work than having someone else have success with it.
Prominent recent example: Joker 2.

Plus he probably liked the easy money.

It looks like he's made an effort to keep the movie as similar to the original as possible as not to ruin it, but he probably had no say in the casting.

This. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if audiences who watch live action Lilo and Stitch would bitch why Angel isn't in it, they likely know more of Stitch as a brand than Stitch from the original movie, and at most only a vague nostlagia about the 2D movie.

All of the live action remakes are wins from Disney's perspective, because the main reason producing them is not to actually make money, although that is a nice bonus if they do.

Its to retain copyright and a trademark on the original cartoon. That includes things like the character designs and songs.

Disney make more money on merch and use of characters than the movies by miles. In order to keep doing this after a certain period of time, either based on when a work becomes public domain or when a contract states rights on certain things revert to someone else if a new film has not been made (sunset clauses), they have to make a new film. All those shite sequels in the 90s were not just cash grabs but suring up ownership rights too, all those times when Disney sued children's hospitals for having paintings of Disney characters on their window were too. Part of trademark law is that you have to be seen using and protecting your intellectual property in order to be able to claim it as your trademark.

That's how Bass have managed to protect a simple red triangle as one of the oldest copyrights in the world. A fucking triangle. And why McDonald's sue if anyone else with the common surname McDonald dares to name any food adjacent company after themself. Nintendo also have a reputation for having lawyers on speed-dial ever since they almost got had up for a similar thing using the name Kong.

So why not just release a new animated remake, or another low quality sequel? Its because Disney got rid of its hand drawn animators, all they do now is CGI, this means in nearly all cases it would cost more to make a good quality animated film than just a live action film that is "good enough".

If you look where the budgets of the live action films are highest, this matches up with the ones they sell the most t-shirts of in places like Primark, so you see what is happening there...
