The greatest film of all time dropped 32 years ago today.
Say something nice about it!
>>211357172 (OP)Grant kicks a Velociraptor in it. That was pretty cool. In 3 he also kicks one of those flying dinosaurs and that was also cool.
T-Rex doesn't want to be fed. He wants to hunt. Can't just suppress 65 million years of gut instinct.
Pain. Anguish. Despair, even.
>>211357172 (OP)I love this fucking movie so much.
It's so damn quotable.
I always wanted to see more of the island than what was shown, especially the tour.
>>211357172 (OP)Jurassic Park is closer in time to 007 Dr. No. (1962) than it is to us today.
You think anyone will remember the films of today in another 32 years?
>>211357833>You think anyone will remember the films of today in another 32 years?lmao
>>211357833I think the only films anyone will remember from the last decade in the coming ones are the Star Wars sequels, and not in a fond way.
And maybe Top Gun for how it was an oasis in a sea of putrid shit.
Thoughts on spielberg changing Hammond from a greedy piece of shif billionaire to a wholesome grandpa
>>211358550Probably for the best, I don't think anyone wanted to see Santa get eaten alive.
saw it in theaters as a kid and i was obsessed with it
had tons of toys, a book about all the visual effects, the sega games
god i fucking miss the 90s, take me back
>>211358612And it came out at the height of the dinosaur craze that started a few years earlier with Littlefoot. The waiting lists for dinosaur books at the library was several years long. What a time to be a kid.
>>211357172 (OP)I like the 90's computer stuff in it, Nedry even has a silicon graphics workstation.
>>211357172 (OP)This was the first and only movie I saw with my dad in the theater. Great memories.
>>211357172 (OP)the opening is more foreboding and scary than anything in the franchise especially the title sequence
why the FUCK did they flanderize the shit out of it like the more "humanoid" looking dinos or only making bad guys die holy shit what a downgrade
It's the only good one in the series
>>211357569That's a cool map, but its legend is fucking horrendous!
>Dinosaurs indicated by circles of various colorsI get the green circles for herbivores and red circles for carnivores (and maybe the blue one for marine species), but what about the yellow ones? Where is their meaning explained?
>Circles vary in sizeWhat does the size indicate?
Also:
>locating the holding pens of dangerous carnivores this close to the fucking visitor center instead of as far away as possibleWhich imbecile planned this fucking facility? They are not even designed as visitor attractions...
>>211357172 (OP)1 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 6 > 7 > 5
>>211359786>World>goodYep, it's summer.
>>211359840World is humiliating tiers of bad, the only saving grace is actually having a woman die but that shocked normies so much it's now verbotten in the series
But it's still not as bad as the latest one with that absolutely braindead idea of a jurassic swarm as the main threat that does nothing and dies, what the FUCK were they thinking
Everything about clone daughter is jump the shark tier too for a dino movie
>>211359840>Only movie with dinosaurs in an actual working themepark in a franchise about dinosaurs in themeparksYep, its kino
>>211359907>ignores the steaming pile of shit that makes up the rest of the filmBrowns really do love their green screens, don't they?
>>211359938>Muh realistic practical effe-ACK!Ahahahhahahahahahhahahahaha
>>211359786How did you already rate 7?
>>211360027I would be genuinely surprised if it was good. It looks paint by the numbers bad. At best it could be a little better than Dominion.
>>211360025JPIII mogs everything in World and it's not even debatable.
Very cool animatronic too, they don't make 'em like that anymore.
>>211360112>JPIII mogs everything in World and it's not even debatable.>Very cool animatronic too, they don't make 'em like that anymore.
>>211360149Glad you agree.
My friends and I snuck in to the sold out show opening night. there were a bunch of pissed off people in the aisles because a lot of other people snuck in too. The theater couldnt do shit because once everyone is seated you cant stop the show to check everyones tickets without pissing everyone off. So like a dozen people got screwed. I was just a kid I wanted to see the dino movie.
>>211360025>thirdies pretending this isn't excellent
>>211357172 (OP)What did Spielberg mean by this?
>>211360376Sexual awakening for many 4chaners...
I would be fine with just mercs on the island trying to survive but the series pretty much turned into fast and furious with dinos
>>211359760Seems like yellow are also carnivores, and itโs a danger rating. Red are the real big boys. And thatโs why you keep them close to the visitor centre. Because people go to the zoo to see lions, not exotic birds.
I enjoyed every movie except Dominion. I guess I just really like seeing dinosaurs in action and I don't care if the plot is stupid. I also know nothing will ever get close to the first movie, so I never set my expectations too high.
Saw it opening weekend, I was 7 and it was the greatest moment of my life up to that point (and for quite a while after). Like, just fucking imagine what it was like for a dinosaur-obsessed kid to see the T-rex attack for the first time on the big screen
>>211361005I still haven't bothered watching it
>>211361036The main problem is that it's a bunch of wasted opportunities.
>Bring back the original trio, do nothing interesting with them>Have dinosaurs roaming the world, do nothing interesting with them>Did you say dinosaurs? Fuck them. Locusts are much cooler. Let's make it about them instead.>Bring back Dodgson for some reason, do nothing interesting with him
>>211361005Nothing wrong with that anon
>>211357172 (OP)there is a very real possibility that i have seen this move more times than any other human. i watched my VHS copy so many times i wore out the tape until i eventually got it on dvd in the early 00s and resumed watching it again. i still occasionally stream it in the background and watch the movie at least 2-3 times a year. if i had to guess i would say i have seen this movie over 300 times in my life.
>>211360683> fast and furious with dinosthey drive now?
>>211360967Ok, the color scale danger rating makes (kinda) sense. I still don't get the circle size though. If it's supposed to be an indicator for animal size, the Gallimimus circle should be smaller than that of a Brachiosaurus.
The holding pens next to the visitor center are not for the tourists (according to the map), but for ingen services.
>>211361024>T-Rex eats a guy on the toiletI wiped a tear from my young eye.
>>211359760>>211360967>>211361219You guys are overthinking this, it's just a poorly made fan-made map
>>211360025>This made boomers shit and piss their pants with fearReally now?
>>211360683dude,that's the best summarized version of this movie I've ever seen
The only nightmare I can remember from childhood is hiding behind my couch as the silhouette of a trex head is shown through my closed drapes, I run out the door when it starts pushing through the window to get to my moms place of work and just as I reach the door I get jumped by a velociraptor
I had it recurrently to the point that it was no longer scary and I knew I was dreaming so every time I tried a different tactic of getting to mom unharmed but never succeeded
Thoughts on Camp Cretaceous?
>>211357172 (OP)JP, JP2, and LW were so kino, we didn't know how good we had it
>>211361371Pure ass, but there was potential there in the first 3 seasons.
Imagine waiting 30 years to get a Jurassic Park cartoon and it's filled with dykes, magical negro dino whisperer and MUH SUDDEN PTSD.
>>211357172 (OP)>John the Paleontologist is spooked now..nobody knows where he is.>Look, it's a bluff. They don't really want to start a separate operation. You know the kind of costs that are involved in that kind of dinosaur park scam? You've got the palaeontologist, the bioengineering lab, the national park pimp...They want in on a going thing.
Okay /tv/ you (yes, YOU!) are invited to visit an untested Jurassic Park (original version). You are told that there is a 75% chance that things will go to shit the way that it does in the first movie, but you get to see all the dinosaurs. Do you do it?
>>211361513Fuck yes. Just hide out in the bunker when SHTF, that worked for everyone else except for Sam Jackson when he had to go turn the power on.
>>211361513>You are told that there is a 75% chance that things will go to shitI'd personally fuck shit up to make sure this chance goes up to 100% just to either have an awesome survival story or die most awesome way possible!
>>211361513Actually, I think I made this too easy: there's a 100% chance things will go to shit, and you have a 50% chance of survival. Yes or no?
>>211361636Yes, as long as I get access to the armory and get my own SPAS.
>>211357172 (OP)It's still the best horror movie for children
>>211361275I think its for a zine or a video game or something. Its vintage JP
I remember the release day, not for the movie but for my worse life experience. My ex gf and I "Yes I'm a boomer." were waiting to see this movie, Some crazy cracked out chick ran up to me and booted me in the balls. I lost my left nut and missed the movie. Girl got arrested though, crazy shit.
>>211360025They need to do an updated remastered version of this like george lucas later did with star wars
>>211357569>>211359760I'm pretty sure it's meant to match the icons on the enclosure signs. Yellow is probably reserved for the less marketable/smaller carnivores
>>211359760GREEN-Plant eaters, YELLOW Omnivores, RED Carnivores.
JP is akmost a perfect movie.
I think it's greateat strength is sound design and cinematography.
It looks and sounds absolutely amazing and realistic, why they decided to make everything blue in the World-movies is beyond me but a huge mistake.
>>211360683The thing about Jurassic Park is that it was only ever destined to be a survival/adventure romp on the islands, not whatever they've been trying to do to it for the past decade.
We know what works, TLW and JPIII - despite their flaws - proved that, and anything having to do with the mainland needs to accidental and temporary, not the status quo. Dinosaurs being loose all over the world doesn't work.
>He shivered, hearing that sound. It was terrifying, a scream from some other world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3rIFjCVawc&ab_channel=LegitEliminator
>>211362535>Rexyhate the marvelisation of JP
Her name is Roberta
>>211359907> Only movie with dinosaurs in an actual working themepark in a franchise about dinosaurs in themeparks> 90% of the theme park is a stupid swimming pool with a bullshit godzilla monster that doesnโt exist at all
>>211363061b-but the petting zoo and the giant hamster balls....
>>211357172 (OP)The score, the balance between practical and CGI effects, the pace, the action, and the quieter moments are unmatched. Love this movie.
>>211363087Those ideas are so fucking gay. Donโt forget
> people are bored of dinosaurs lmao Dumbest shit ever. Jurassic world was so fucking lame.
>>211363140We don't even get to see much of the park at all, it fucking sucks.
>>211357172 (OP)32 years later and it's still better than the 7 sequels that followed
>>211357172 (OP)Jurrasic park really is the example of a perfect movie. Not only is the acting on point but the pacing is perfect, the sound design is impactful, the score is amazing and the cinematography never wastes the viewers time, always showing something interesting to look at. On top of all this the way it uses its CGI is basically a forgotten art, JP was excited to show off this new technology and uses it to astonish watchers
>>211362535>this is the only time they used that roar in all of the filmsI hate how they kept giving the rexes triumphant roars, it needs to also sound scary like this.
>>211361371The counselor is hot
>>211360025JPIII had some good animatronics (raptors and pteranodons), but the Spinosaur always moved with the grace of heavy machinery. Still, better than any of the animatronics in Dominion.
>>211363708To be fair, if you go back and watch the first one the T. rex animatronic pretty much moved the same way. It really isn't that bad.
Plus, you can't just make a machine with teeth thrash around wildly with a dude in its jaws.
>>211359883>having a woman die but that shocked normies so much it's now verbottenI don't think it was merely "having a woman die" but how leftfield and prolonged her death sequence was. She was a random supporting character and died as if she were the main villain.
>>211363186The only thing I see on this map that we never see is the "Pachy Arena," everything else appears somewhere in the movie
>>211363805>as if she were the main villain. You say that as if Jurassic Park ever had over the top main villain deaths.
>>211363300Why are the Jurassic world pterodactyl used?
>>211357172 (OP)It has really nice dolly shots. Frankly, I'm surprised that From the East is already 32 years old.
>>211357569Had this on a trapper keeper folder.
>>211357833We'll be lucky if anyone is watching films in another 32 years. It's already dying.
>>211363842We donโt have a scene in the volcano. You knowโฆ. The thing that ruins the island in like a week?????
>>211363207I don't mind The Lost World, but it just goes to show how even Spielberg himself couldn't recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle that was the first movie. I would still rather watch The Lost World and JP3 than any of the Jurassic World trilogy though.
>>211363300Why is the design so half assed?
>>211363842I don't remember seeing the golf course, bamboo forest, the botanical gardens or the gondola.
And does the cruise really count if we only ever saw 3 seconds of it?
>>211363869Never implied that, just saying it was an "over the top" death for a supporting character. It would be like having her sitting on the toilet and eaten by the T-Rex in the first movie, even though that death was reserved for the seedy lawyer.
>>211363869>the jew lawyer>denis nedry>hammond in the novel>peter stormare>that ingen vetenarian who was afraid of snakes>hammond's slimy cousin
>>211363984unlucky bastard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvhmY47Xffs
>>211363869A dude gets eaten by a trex on the toilet is pretty over the top. Another is killed by baby trex and the sound design of his screams were pretty over the top.
>>211363805It was funny. Lighten up. Like I get it, compared to the original, Jurassic World is just another in the dustbin, but as far as that dustbin goes, it was one of the more watchable blockbusters of the 2010's.
>>211364156Gennaro wasn't a villain.
Nedry's death wasn't over the top at all.
The novel is irrelevant in this case.
Dieter wasn't a villain, just an idiot.
Burke wasn't a villain either, and really? You're using the AHHHH A SNAKE death?
Ludlow wasn't over the top at all either, he just gets mauled by the baby rex off screen. And he's Hammond's nephew.
>>211364216Again, Gennaro wasn't a villain.
>>211364221Not really. Itโs a movie filled with bullshit and then it ends with a final fight with Optimus prime and megatron. By the way the volcano will blow up and destroy the entire island very soon but we still build the dinosaur island on the active volcano? Get the fuck out
>>211364277>Nedry's death wasn't over the top at all.what is this cope?
>>211364293You sound autistic. Why would you put this much thought into a movie like this? I don't even remember what you're referring to.
>>211364302What's over the top about it? He's gets spit in the eyes and dies in his car off screen.
This is the same scene where they use a slide whistle sound effect when he slips, by the way.
>>211364277Neither was the bullshit lady that dies
> Nedrys death wasnโt over the top at all> cartoonish thunderstorms as he is blinded by magical black goo and then the dinosaur shows an over the top grill and screams as it kills nedry Are you retarded?
>>211357172 (OP)the t-rex attack at night is one of the best scenes ever and the way they spend the whole movie building up to it is masterful.
>>211364322I said Jurassic World is bullshit and Why did they build Jurassic World on an active volcano?
>>211363087>>211359907it was cool for 5 minutes
then some retard starts talking about making dinosaurs into weapons and derails the entire franchise
>>211364396Turn on your monitor
>>211364324so if graphic violence only counts, how does rain spout waterfall of blood mixed with rain from the snake guy not count?
>>211364439I bet you thought that sounded really cool inside your spacious brownoid head, but how about you try to make a point instead of pretending this a Marvel movie where everyone cheers at your shitty attempts at a quippy comeback, yeah?
>>211364489What's graphic about it? It's just some red dye coming down a waterfall. He still dies out of frame.
And, once again, he's not a villain.
>>211364535> how about you try to make a point instead of pretending this a Marvel movie where everyone cheers at your shitty attempts at a quippy comeback, yeah?So just like these garbage Jurassic world movies?
>>211364535a waterfall of fake blood is as graphic as it gets in a pg13 movie where only 1 or 2 people are visibly killed in frame
>he's not a villain.the movie pretty much frames every ingen contractor as fair game for something horrific
>>211361513Depends, will there be any big booty latinas present?
>>211364391Because who cares.

๐
>>211364625A little blood being the only confirmation of death isn't really that graphic.
>the movie pretty much frames every ingen contractor as fair game for something horrificNot really. They really don't do anything that's antagonistic or villainous enough to warrant it, they just get picked off because dinosaurs don't discriminate (As it should be). They're just doing a job.
Burke is literally just the paleontologist Grant stand-in who names dinosaurs.
You know, you could at least used Carter's death as a legit example, see gifrel, but something tells me you haven't actually watched these movies in a while.
>>211357172 (OP)This movie is too scary for me to watch now. I grew up watching the people in this movie get eaten by dinosaurs, I was 5 years old when I was stomping around my living room with action figures in my mouth pretending that I was a T-Rex but now the deaths feels spiteful, like they draw out the agony of the death, suffering and fear.
Am I just a bitch now or am I just noticing the Spielberg's demonic jewishness?
>>211364725>They really don't do anything that's antagonistic or villainous enough to warrant itso youre just ignoring how all the movies virtually mark everyone who is even slightly mean or exploitative towards animals as a badguy
>>211364783a little bit of both
>>211364803No, I'm saying there really aren't any "bad guys" in the Jurassic Park films and that everyone's fair game. That's how it should be.
Nobody in the first film even comes close to being mean or exploitative to the dinosaurs. Nedry calls the Dilophosaurus stupid, that's it.
I was 11/12. There was a 4-screen theater in a walk-through mall with a dedicated arcade and comic shop next to it. Every Saturday morning I would find a neighbor's lawn to mow and then before lunch ride my bike to the theater and just get my mind blown. This happened every weekend of summer vacation, without fail. 10-12 times I got chills from the opening thump-wahhh of the title screen, terrified beyond words when Arnold's stump appeared, and just absolutely all-in believing that brachiosaur shaking the screen after falling back down to all fours. Life on those Saturday afternoons, for those summer months, in 1994 is literally what I believe the concept of religious heaven represents.
>>211364866every movie clearly frames people in negative lights over arbitrary 1 or 2 lines of dialogue as villainous and has them killed or maimed in some shitty way for said slight infraction and you pretending they dont and not getting why everyone hates Eddy's and the babysitter's deaths is just you loudly declaring how much of an autistic retard you are who cant see subtext
>>211365099You almost had a point until you sperged out at the end. Regardless, it's just a fact that there really isn't anybody that's actually villainous in the Jurassic Park trilogy. Getting pissy doesn't make me wrong.
>>211365373Patiently waiting for the third game, which should have been the first game.
>>211365373>>211365398You like this boring as shit game????
>>211365426I get to make my own Jurassic Park tours. I love it dearly.
>>211365373>add so many enclosures and species in sandbox modes that it dips to like 10fps and freezes constantly>still can't master terrain tools so every park is flat as fuckthere's my experience in a nutshell, supposedly 3 has better terrain controls/options
>>211357172 (OP)GRRRRAAANT *dramatic music*
>>211358550you have to look for it, but the cheapness and habitual lying is there. I have a pretty thorough esoteric breakdown of the all female, chaos and imagery used. Love this film

It looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff of the actual explorer.
I'll post the movie one in a sec for comparison.
>>21135783395% of "film connoisseurs" today watch almost nothing from before 1960 (a single digit number of movies) and hardly any more from 60 through 80. I think there are enough films that have cemented themselves as permanent-cultural-references from the 80s and 90s that they'll still be watched, quoted, parodied, memed for literal generations to come; however, those still-culturally-relevant movies will gradually shrink as societal interests change and thus their relevancy is lost.
this is how it will happen, for the record.

>>211359786i watched the first 3 this last week and I feel
1>3>2
I really love the mercenaries in 2 but otherwise it feels like the whole thing is lacking, what dino is it even focused on?
>>211362173>Dinosaurs being loose all over the world doesn't work.It does if you have a realistic response to it, aka Dino wars, not the preachy bullshit pseudo illegal immigrant nignoggery they put in the films with Jeff Goldblum telling everyone that we have to accept them as part of our environment now.
>>211367623Dead or alive, you're based.
>>211370264A realistic response to it would last about a month.
It doesn't work at all because dinosaurs on the loose in reality would be put down by the military and all sorts of rednecks ASAP, there wouldn't be some big war.
Besides, nobody liked the whole idea that JW kept trying to force with dinosaurs being used in war in the first place.
>>211370365>realistic response to it would last about a monthIt's a movie, and also "life finds a way"
Plus the military idea is not inherently stupid in concept, it just wasn't handled properly since they tried to also stuff in the rogue Asian geneticist sideplot which came from nowhere.
>>211370444It's all dumb and nothing about the World films were executed properly so there's no point in acting like any of what they did could've been salvaged.
>>211370503I'm not trying to salvage World because it's not the direction the series hould have gone in
I'm just saying they could have made some dope action movies of dinos vs humans by having them literally unleashed on the world and they screwed the pooch
Also that movie 65 fucked itself too, it had the same potential and did nothing with it
>>211364783you're a bitch, the deaths aren't exactly deserved but they're not visually gratuitous , JP is hardly a demonic jewish film, Jaws too fucked for you too?
>>211370503You could honestly say that about all of the sequels. Each one has a very interesting premise that gets derailed by stupid subplots
>OG: the GOAT>TLW: hey would it be cool if the park was just a nature preserve and also a trex loose in San DiegoSeeing all the mercs in action and watching them all fail was cool.
>III: okay this time its still a wildlife preserve but the team is in survival mode the whole timeNot so great, but seeing them powerless the whole time was fun
>World: alright this time there's an actual park that's been operating safely for years then all hell breaks looseThe park scenes were nice, once the dinos get loose the movie is great. I'd watch two hours of just dinos eating tourists.
>Fallen Kingdom: okay what if the island goes to shit and the dinos break outI really don't like this one, but I guess they had to explain dinos breaking out.
>Dominion: okay the dinos are everywhere nowAll the scenes of people dealing with dinos IRL are great
Each one has subplots that detract from the fun, but I'm a sucker for it and I'll keep watching them.
what was your favorite evil dino from the series? what dino would you want to see for the next movie
>>211371047Spino is still the best
>>211357172 (OP)>The greatest filmThe greatest propaganda more like.
watching JW and people weren't kidding about the scene with the woman getting tossed around by the pteranodons and then eaten by the mosa, goes on forever with her being tortured, desperate, and scared and finally shes given a sweet release by being eaten by the big one whole. W T F little grim for a kid type movie
>>211371859yeah thats the only one that doesn't just feel like a different brand of T-Rex
Don't remember how but I saw it in the theater with this weird kid from up the street who was two years older. He was insanely scared through the whole movie. Later on I bought some kind of book set from the movie that came with a fake Jurassic Park ticket and told him it was real and I was going next week. He believed me and I realized he might actually be retarded so we never hung out again. He's in jail for rape now lol
>>211357172 (OP)I've read the book in two days before it came out.
Dinos were my shit as a kid and the movie is awesometastic. The sequels...
>>211371989And worst of all the main target are kids.
Matthew 18:6 KJV
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
>>211358495>Top GunThey surely will remember a meme movie tha is just another regurgitation of a 40 yo ip nobody asked for
>>211370264>>211370365I liked the Dino black market and Dino cock fights in JW3, one of the few nice things in that movie
>>211372231Sad part is it's probably going to be true.
>>211363186And it was the only chance for a visitor massacre, and the only thing that happens is they get heckled by flying species a bit. I think everyone that dies on screen is an employee of the park.
>>211357172 (OP)How come no one is talking about the most memorable character in Jurassic Park? Also, what phenotype is this?
>>211373662Still has the same disgruntled Rosie O'Donnell look on his face after all these years
>>211357569Thereโs a Sega CD myst-like game. I donโt know if itโs good but I wanted to play it really bad.
>>211371047>>211371859>>211372013Reminder there are four (4) spinosaurus in the new movie.
>>211359786World was the worst film I've seen in my life and I never watched past that.

The helicopter as the womb was just as effective in apocalypse now but grant has now become unwittingly initiated into the unnatural order.
O and the start of the film has blood magic, frozen in time, on Moses' serpent staff, that has been inverted to not create miracles, but create beasts.
Jews in Hollywood love their subversion. Also perverts, note the dino sneeze and malcoms sexual pose post injury
>>211359907jurassic park was not about dinosaurs in theme parks, retrard; it was about the hubris of man and his inability to control complex systems.
