All they do is say GA-GA and wipe their ass with their hands and smear shit on the wall and then lick their hands. They have no respect for history and they just break things.

Because then his arc is more satisfying in the end. In the book he's already fond of the two kids from the get-go.

so that he'd have a character arc about learning to actually like kids. Like >>211359067 said, he already likes kids in the book because they're the only demographic that shares his enthusiasm for dinosaurs. The thing about that is that he doesn't get much of a character arc in the book as a result, and spends most of it trying to keep the kids from arguing and keeping both of them and himself alive

this. the whole subtext of the book and them being on the island is about his temptation and his escaping from his underlying nature.
>surrounded by ravenous predators chasing them, i.e. his lust
>eventually manages to outrun all the dinosaurs and "save" the children
notice the lawyer dies first, him overcoming his fear of legal repercussions, and still being able to deal with the situation on his own
>mathematician is crippled, logic is overridden, can't save him
in the end only his morality can.
note more children come back in the second film

It's a reference to the production of Hook (1991) where some fishy stuff happened, NDAs were signed, kids quit acting, and then Stephen Spielberg said "I'll never work with kids again."

Jurassic Park is not a very good movie.
Like I'm pretty sure I've seen it and yet I remember almost nothing about it.
It's elevated by the dinosaur obsession of the 90s - everything was about dinosaurs back then.
Which may have been created by the marketing campaign for the movie, when I think about it.
But even then - it shows marketers did a much better job than Spielberg did - they've created lasting worldwide cultural phenomenon around a rather forgettable movie.
