If you’re going to tease Walt revealing his culpability in Jane’s death the entire episode with a banal plot line that would seem to telegraph a big payoff, then its a bit of a nut shot when that doesn’t come close to happening.

Open House (S4 E3) and Mandala (S2 E11) fucking sucks more than The Fly.

The fly was an insane, degenerate piece of filth, and it deserved to die.

People hate it because it doesn't forward the plot at all and as such, plotfags consider it filler. The real beauty of the episode is that it slows things down for once, and focuses on Walt's and Jesse's current partnership/friendship, where they are, and how it's pretty much the last time you'll see the characters somewhat like each other as friends, before everything goes to shit. It also shows Walt's loss of control and foreshadows what was to come later on in the series.
