Nope. S2 filters people hard cuz of how bad Ep. 1 is, it gets better somewhat (pretty kino scenes at the end of the season) but it's a stinker of a start. S3 is bland, not nearly as good as S1 but not as bas as S2 either, you'll hate it if you hate blacks. Night Country is just a Lifetime show, you'll hate it if you hate women.

Yes, but realize that what made s1 great was the influence of mcconaughey and fukunaga. They both left and the took the magic with them. S2 is good, but pizzamans humorless nihilism gets boring.

don't consider it a followup season. it is an anthology. S2 is a shitty follow up, but a good show on its own merits.
s3 I did not like, someone called it bland and I think that is a big part of it, I also did not like the framing device.
S4 is okay if you go in with low expectations. interesting setting and characters, but the writing is shit. it is so shit that the writers basically put in "if you think it is shit that means you are shit" to justify themselves.

Both the second and third are good. I think the 3rd is better written than the previous 2, but personally the old man prosthetics is a bit too uncanny.
the second is heavily inspired by James Ellroy's The big nowhere.
But overall neither the 2nd or 3rd is as good as the first though, IMO.

Yeah 5 and 6, I think signifies how trapped they are in the cycle (Carcossa?), repeating the same mistakes. With Rustin trying to thread a path out by going deeper. The multiple timeline thing works so well, there's some reflective and meditative about it. The last two episodes suffers because it lose that multi timeline aspect, and yeah I'm back and forth on that ending.
