The premise and original three seasons were a completely novel idea

It was only good pre-cancellation

South Park was literally just making an entire series out of the random pop culture reference and social commentary based season 3 and 4 Simpsons episodes

The early seasons are legit great. The humour works well with short form content and zoomer style and thus survives well on today's social media. Plus Seth and the producers blase attitude to FG has also aged better than Matt and Trey being high and mighty about their construction paper cutouts considering both shows are pretty bad now.

Family Guy focused on shitposting while South Park devolved into soapboxing.

As I watched Southpark I was wondering if it got worse, or I was just getting old.
Then like 2 years ago I went and started S1E1 and watched to like season 10 or so, first time I've watched those early seasons since the 90s or so.
God damn those old episodes are so fucking good

Funnily enough, Trey hates the early seasons. Specifically the first 3.

Trey's bitterness comes through a lot more now. Seth still keeps it light and irreverent
