Why do Star Wars fans HATE The Last Jedi?
I'm 19 and just getting around to watching all these movies for the first time,

I have no childhood connection to them. It was pretty good, amazing
and the first half is empowering + there are.

Problematic things like the Oscar being misogynist to purple haired woman scene and the racist dogwhistling in the Star Wars lore but like,

whatever. It was WAY less boring than the Prequels. In my current marathon of the franchise;

Episode 7 are my favorite, the Prequels is my least favorite.
I think there are cool moments here with Snook,

Luke's renouncing of the force makes sense,
Rey is badass,
Adam Driver is sexy as Kylo. idk,

I'm not a Star Wars nerd so I didn't love it but solid 8/10

Want to know how hard TLJ failed to resonate with the current generation?
Just take at look at merch sales and how hard they plummeted compared to TFA.

A thread died for this so I might as well give a genuine response.
The Last Jedi was poorly received because it failed to deliver anything. Star Wars has decades of books to grab stories from, plenty of which people still considered canon. Instead of basing the sequels off of the best books (with a little tweaking from hindsight) we got the exact opposite in every way. Turns out some things are good because they are good and subverting that isn't "creative".
Even if somebody liked the focus on the new cast they were barely together or growing as characters.
