I would 100% die from infections within a month or two, I am under no illusions about it.

All post-apocalyptic fiction, particularly zombie shit, is a vehicle for Americans to fantasize about a pioneer past that will never come back. It's entirely Libertarian daydreaming, "there will be no rules and I can finally kill my neighbors"

In any realistic scenario, civilization would reassert itself almost immediately, but this isn't the fantasy people want to play out in their heads. They want a never-ending playground of buildings to loot and strangers to shoot.
