It's why the book is no longer in print

Which was meant to show how much Scrooge has fallen. It was a bad thing. The book never condones the shit he does and drives home how fucked it was.

Because the audience for it does not exist. Neither China nor America care for the ducks, and Europe is not enough. Ducktales 2017 was the chance these characters had to be popular and while it had its niche it certainly wasn't a big deal.

Also, the story depends on Scrooge's more unsavory character traits, and no way they'd leave a greedy billionaire who pays his family slave wages be a hero without severely sanitizing him (like they did for DT 2017). And then you have pivotal elements like the African zombie or the kidnapping of Goldie which would also be radically changed. Just be glad they're not touching it.

Because Don Rosa would probably have a full on reeeee fit if they had to change the slightest thing just so it worked a bit better as a tv show. He would probably vehemently object to David Tennant doing the voice of Scrooge because he was involved in Ducktales and/or the animation style as well. He would probably disown the whole thing very publicly as a result, which, while not always a surefire killer of a show, will definitely hurt the shows potential viewer numbers.

It's not like Disney has been especially reasonable or fair with Rosa in the past. They 100% took the Life and Times volumes out of print instead of just putting one of those "this work includes some harmful stereotypes" disclaimers on the first page because they just fucking hate the guy and don't want to pay him.

You know that Rosa was probably offered just that, but had a Donald Duck style paddy and then said "I would rather have it out of print than have a disclaimer!" actually thinking that Disney would back down. By this point Disney probably had had enough of his shit, so just said fine and washed their hands with it.

Americans are in charge and if they know anything at all about it it's that the author of it is an autistic old white man who is open about disney screwing him over stealing his art originals.
It's also pulp adventure at it's core and cherishes that so it's extra no-no to modern retards who hate the idea of appealing to anyone white, straight and male.

Disney has always been infamously insane douchebags in how they deal with comic book artists.
Carl Barks used to think he was a no-name until old age because they stole his fanmail for decades in order for him not to find out how popular he was.

What's weirder about it is that it's 100% American made. Donald Duck, Scrooge, the Duck-iverse, Carl Barks, Don Rosa, all American. I thought Europeans hated Americana crap like this.

I originally thought Carl Bark was European and knew how to write to European sensibilities, but I was wrong.

Old american stuff was generally well-liked in Europe and Don Rosa's main inspiration is old pulp, adventure stories, historical myths and Carl Barks stories from the 50s.
Likely the same reason you won't see him get any adaptations because all that stuff is anathema to modern american animators and hollywood types.

I know the shitty reboot everyone here in Italy hated got an official english translation, but I'm not sure about the original PKNA. I've seen fan translations so at least there's that.

That PKNA never properly got acknowledged outside of Italy (and also not enough IN Italy, I must say) it's a fucking crime. The writing was amazing and it had some of the best superhero sci-fi stories I ever read.
It deserves a proper, non 3D animation by Disney - and if it got one during Marvel's golden age it would have made them even richer. No idea why they didn't push it.

I still struggle to understand why and how Disney has neglected the mouse and duck as a whole so much in their home country, to the point where the average anglo doesn't even know these comics have been hugely popular in the rest of the world and consistently getting new stories for over 80 years.

They should. It's the best duck comic book. Yes, it has some "problematic" parts, but just stick Oprah at the start of the movie saying "now listen here folks, some of the depictions in this movie (blah blah blah)".

Has it ever been established who the father of Della's kids was?

I would have said Launchpad, but he only meets Della after she was missing on the moon. Perhaps Gladstone got lucky?
With Gladstone's luck he must have shit-tons of illegitimate children due to his lucky goose spunk impregnating every duck he shags.

Good comic though
