It's shockingly bad but the Empire scenes (until the final reveal that le heckin robot was the true emperor all along) were kino. The two female MCs are like planks of wood with terrible performances to boot. Even Jared Harris gives one of the only meh performances of his career.

You don´t fucking say. Look, the truth is big movies, shows and games have to at least look as if they are being made for the lowest common denominator. That means ticking all the popularity boxes. It´s the same for every big show so your escape from Foundation won´t be that Dunc show everyone already forgot.

You can try with marginally "smaller" productions like Silo or Fallout but it won´t be much better. If you want something that´s even remotely more creative you move down a few steps. Go watch Constellation or maybe Hello Tomorrow or Tales from the loop.

i really enjoyed to books, and i guess there is at least a chance that the show gets picked back up in a few years. at least story wise a break makes sense.

I watched the show recently and didn't mind her character at all. What's the issue? She's competent but not a girlboss, she fucks up and has flaws like any actual person does. Only after I finished did I vaguely remember seeing threads in passing about her ruining the show/the last season

There is sci fi kino you just have to put up with an extremely slow start (have faith and unironically trust the plan) and chinkery to attain it
I feel absolute pity for anyone who's first experience with this series is the D&D show. They fucked it so hard they make GoT season 8 look like a masterpiece. Do not watch the netflix show. Do consider the chink show if you can put up with a slower pace trusting that it is going somewhere.

Conventional weaponry while we're at it. Particle cannons accepted on major ships in big moments or if the advanced faction has them.
